Sorry dude, not many people frequent the SaC forums until like the month or so before PIPs are due.

Hey there lil-chilean=) Have you thought of making your PIP topic a bit more specific 'cause consumer culture is pretty broad so it might be better to choose a particular age group/type of consumer culture. But it's up to you:)

I just started mine in the holidays. And my teacher, who has been doing PIPs for years recommended that intros are done last because like the conclusion reflection is necessary as well. Also in terms of starting it, i am at that stage aswell. She recommended, apart from starting to read secondary research, just start conducting interviews and typing them up- then planning where they will go and at this point you can then start arranging your secondary research with your findings. that is my plan anyways.
I'm doing a study on adolescence in our culture and the importance or rites of passage

i havent started mine just yet, ive got alot of information on my topic but i need to get on with it haha

my topic is about harry potter :) coz i love harry potter :)

its the way gender, power and authority are conveyed through the story, how 30years after the feminist revolution, J K Rowling conveys womens roles as subservient.

what do you guys think?
its gonna be a crazy year!!

i've done media analysis and collected my questionnaires, just need to organise results. ive done a bit of secondary research and started organising my information under chapter headings.

my topic is on identity of elite athletes and factors influencing this, including social pressure, body image, stress, status and public perceptions.

:)

How are you going to use primary methodologies in that one? Like obviously you'll be doing a shitload of content analysis (although reading harry potter over and over isn't the worst kind of work you could be doing) but what primary ones can you use?

My PIP's on sports impact on development of personality. I've kinda started it bnr. more like have written random splurges and I'm hoping that at some point they will magically reconfigure themselves into socially and culturally relevant arguments :)

yomo, yours sounds a bit like mine, mines how elite sports impact their identity. what sort of concepts are you looking at, whats your methodologies?

Mines a bit more micro than yours I think, it's more about the immediate changes in personality like short term on and off the field.. then if i have enough words I'll branch out into the impacts on overall development.

For concepts pretty much latching onto the preliminary course and identity, personality, self, socialisation and stuff like that. I'm hoping to be able to tie a few pop culture concepts into it, but I haven't worked out how yet.

So far for methodologies I've used questionnaires and personal reflection, planning to do a few interviews soon and I've read a couple of incredibly dry books on sociology in sport and personality in sport.

You planning on getting in touch with a few high profile athletes for yours? even if they have nothing good to contribute it makes your research look good haha.
