Yes, bored Jonno, it probably will be outdated in a few months, that doesnt mean it NEEDS to be purchased, eg 8800gt is still awesome, even though now we got 9 series and those 280 gtx's out.

And The Tzar, overclocking? IS YOUR FRIEND KIDDING??? You could probably underclock that beast and u could still play crysis on maxx!

I think its good what u've done, though it was quite expensive, but hey, alienware for birthday is damn good! You'll be set for maxx gaming for the next 5+ years at LEAST.

And ur mum's awesome to think like that about bluray :)

I wanna get myself an xps desktop, the main thing im looking for is 3ghz quad core, 4gb ram, and a 1gig geforce gtx 280. I hear processors of the not so distant future will be able to handle more than 4gb ram. Currently thats what im after. Depends on when i actually get it what new processors, ram, and graphics are out. But if i were to get it now, those would be my basic specs.

Seems pretty stupid to waste like 2 - 6 grand on a computer unless you have money to blow.

You can make a very decent build for $1200ish which can probably run anything.

CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 sitting on 2.8GHz

RAM: 2Gb DDR2-667

GPU: Nvidia Geforce 9600GT

Motherboard: Gigabyte EP45-DS3L

Hard Disk #1: Seagate 160Gb IDE

Hard Disk #2: Western Digital 500Gb SATA

Optical: Lite-on something or other DVD-RAM drive, failing too

PSU: Some generic 500W thing I found in a box

Sound: Integrated Intel HDA

Case: Used to house my Pentium 3

Speakers: Alternates between stereo speakers and a headset

OS: CRUX (Linux)

Cost me about $500-600'ish, and I'm happy with it. :)
lol nice. A bit worried about your case though, does it have enough ventilation / fans? (minimum of 1 intake and 1 outtake of air)

Also, a generic 500W PSU would be pushing it if you are running a Q6600 overclocked + 9600GT. Just might let you know if anything goes wrong... and Overclocking it to 2.8 is nothing if it was 2.66ghz before. Better off just leaving it default..

I doubt 5 years. 3 years probably. You could probably make your computer chug along with Crysis on Ultra High configs from :
http://www.incrysis.com/forum

check the forums, and you should be able to browse around for ultra high config. see how it goes on that.

p.s; what res. are you playing it on? and is everything turned up to max? :p
Max (to me) would be everything turned up as high as you can. =]

You bought a quality CPU which is like $300 now, should use it to it's potentional which should be around 3.5Ghz overclocked.

Lol. That would be fast maybe a few years ago. But still faster than my current comp. =P. Case looks cool though.

I'm going to upgrade after the HSC, maybe after my 2 Unit exam since I have an exam 8 days later.

Motherboard: G-B EP45-DS3L
Hard Drive: WD 640GB
CPU: E7200 @ 3.6Ghz or E8400 @ 4Ghz with a Coolermaster Hyper TX2 cooler?
GPU: HD4850
RAM: 2GB RAM
Optical Drive: 20x Sata Samsung
Case&PSU: Coolermaster 690 @ 460W
LCD: 22” 2ms DVI WS ASUS VW222U

Only costs about $1000.

Ewwwww Piss/Shit/CuntVidia.

System I'm upgrading in two weeks, black edition Phenom and 2x 4870X2's.

Whack in some DDR3 and an Intel SSD and you're laughing.
