About two weeks ago, I sent my documents via email to a company I want to work for. However, I havem't heard from them since and their process is that after they see your documents, they send you an email saying thanks and they will get back to you after if successful. They did contact me 3...

    Unfortunate opportunity

Ahh damn, I was called today from a major fashion retailer for a position but it was full-time. It sucks to be a uni student sometimes. Although it's good that they called me.

    Questions regarding Design (Visual Communication)

I did quite similar to what you did. I also broke up the sub-headings and elaborated under each. It's funny though because after you sent it, your looking, "Should I have written more?", "Should I have done this or that?". I mean I took into consideration that they are going to read a fair few...

    UAI for Fashion & Textiles

The easiest point to differ between UNSW and UTS is UNSW offer courses which are more Fine Arts based except for Digital Design of course. UTS are more creative and industry driven so obviously, Fashion and Textiles at UTS will prepare you be a fashion designer/assistant - whether you want to...

    Questions regarding Design (Visual Communication)

I think for non-school leavers who aren't at University will need to show a portfolio as the admin people I spoke to at Open Day said to me I need at least a Credit Average to be eligible... since I'm doing a similar course at another university. Well it's been a few days since the statement...

    Questions regarding Design (Visual Communication)

I am in the process of finalising my personal statement but I would like to know if there is anyone who has done this before, being a non-school leaver from another university and successfully transferring to UTS? Because I am at university already, do I have to go for an interview? Are there...

B Design (VISUAL COMMUNICATION) [uai cutoffs/questions/help]

It's amazing how people pre-judge a degree without knowing much about it. The reason why Visual Communication at UWS is 60 because they are allowing a greater number of people who aren't good with academic marks to do it because they understand their creative abilites outweight. If you don't...

    V. communication design questions..help plz

There will be an emphasis on design theory (study) and gradually practical work. Billy Blue clearly states you will be learning how to draw from scatch but Billy Blue takes a different approach in that studying there prepares you for the industry head on with design briefs so on. Don't stress...

Best job to start off with? (0 exp)

One good thing about working when your still in high school is that once you finish Year 12, you have a general good chance of applying everywhere, particularly retail because of "customer service". In my case, I applied at certain retail stores only to realise that they do need people with...

Cover letters - make or break?

Cover letters - make or break?

I think the problem has been my cover letters. Although I did say they were four to five paragraphs, the thing is each of them are just 1 to 2 sentences which is why I found it wierd when sample resumes were "long" but were concise with facts within 5 paragraphs. I thought you weren't suppose to...

Cover letters - make or break?

I know you can retry and apply again at the same company. What happens here? Does the manager or recruitment team know who you are? Should you be able to secure an interview if you definitely know your cover letter is strong as well as your Resume?

    Bar jobs? Coffee? retail? anyone?

Loui, getting your Resume in Leichhardt is like a dream come true. It's a prime place of busy restaurants, cafes and bars. I think it many cases, you have a better chance of going in yourself especially if it is a family business. Not every business bothers to advertise on Seek. It's also a plus...

Cover letters - make or break?

Ok good, thanks. Maybe it was a bit of context but I saw some cover letter examples which were quite long - I think they would be long if you were applying for a mangerial role or editor maybe. I did clearly say that by looking at my Resume, you can see my experience/skills so yeah.
