hey i was wondering how to network 2 pc's together so that they can share files and play LAN games like warcraft between them

currently, im using a network hub to connect both pc's and my XboX 360 to the internet

If it's only two PCs, get a direct link lan cable and set both to a similar IP address.

If its multiple PCs get a network switch.

Set a fixed IP address to connect to the internet on one PC. Use it as a gateway to the internet for the others (network setup wizard) and give them a similar IP address, so they can see each other. You may need a router if you don;t have one already.

Might work.

I'm afraid your network has AIDS. The PCs caught it from the Xbox.

I'm so sorry. :(

Look, if you just want to connect the PC's together for a time, forget the internet altogether and disconnect the Xbox then either use a direct link lan cable between the two or go straight through the network hub.

Your hub may or may not need the PC's to have similar IP addresses.

You may have to run the network setup again, but probably not likely. Go to my network places and let it load, and you should find your files there.

I know your pain, btw. I've had the same problem before.

You would have to set up a file sharing network, like a schools network with their server.

make sure the workgroups are the same, and that they are members of workgroups, not domains...

good luck, 2 xps are heaps easier than an xp and a vista...like many vista compatability issues
