My school's system works efficiently and accordingly to the students. Our subjects don't clash at all, and no we don't have lines at our school. Just choose your subjects and you're almost guaranteed to get them (providing there's enough numbers).

you are very lucky, we have lines
Yeah, our co-ordinator put it through a system. Turned out 12 students got clashes apparently with their 3 choices, and 2 were unlucky enough to have all 3 of their preferences on the one line...

Distance Education is an alternative you may consider.

yea biology and modern history clashed for me and I decided to do modern history by distance education. a few people who started distance education at my school, quit, because it was too hard. and then they united and campaigned and convinced a nice teacher at school to teach them.
so you could try and get a couple of students to want to do the course after school and convince a teacher to teach you.

edit: physics and bio! that's total crap. you should definitely appeal!

i am going to do physics. I still think it is ridiculous that they put those two together on the same band

our school didn't have lines, but they decided on the lines after we gave in our subject selections. A girl had a clash with General Maths and English Extension. She decided to pick General Maths.

i didn't have any clashes, but I wish I did. If only Chemistry clashed with something, then I wouldn't have to do it. i really regret doing chemistry...

Back in the SC, i had originally chosen the subjects

standard english
mathematics
software design and development
physics
religion - obligation (1 unit)
and IPT

software design and development didnt run because their wasnt enough people, so i chose geography
i kept mathematics
i changed from standard to advanced english on the first day of year 11 because i didnt want a band 4
I chose maths extension 1 because the co-ordinate convinced me to
i kept physics
religion was an obligation
i changed from IPT to chemistry - because chemistry scaled well

so i ended up with MX1, AVD eng, PHY, CHEM, RE (neglect), GEO,
and now im happy and so glad i made all those changes

i remember going to the assistant principles office 6x in 2 weeks because i kept changing my mind, i changed fromIPT to CHEM to IPT to CHEM

you should do that to until you choose the subjects which float ur boat
