You can ask any apostate, or just read those 2 websites I mentioned [start with faithfreedom], there's so many testimonials of people who have left Islam. If you're not ready to leave yet, just about every issue of islam is discussed in an article on that website and you'd atleast gain some answers to questions.
You're just as bad as a door-knocking Jehovah's witness. They 'force' religion onto somebody (they're so adamant and persistent), and you're attempting to make others 'leave'.
Just let it be mang. Khalas.

Except that, I only offered it to Omie Jay because he expressed doubts, and I'm on the internet, NOT his place of residence. It's completely his choice to click the links. I didn't copypaste excerpts of either website so really my suggestions have no influence.

Heaven forbid I take someone's doubts seriously. I would give the exact same advice to someone who was SEEKING a religion and having doubts about their atheism.

Yeah, other than that, I'm an atheist version of those Jehovah's Witnesses. So damn adamant and persistent.

Idk, from how you've described yourself, just in retrospect, I saw a girl who I was just thinking could have been you. If you have not worn such attire recently, than dw, I just made an assumption.

australia has so many more public holidays than anywhere else.

no i don't think other religious holidays should become public holidays, because, as stated, you would have to have a public holiday for every religion. i also don't believe that muslim, hindu, buddhist, whatever, should have the day off on christian holidays if they demand having another day off to acknowledge their religious traditions. you can't have it both ways. just get used to the fact that the majority of the nation is an english speaking, christian society, and therefore our public holidays reflect that.

plus, who really think christmas and easter aren't commercialised and just about presents and chocolate anyway.

it's ingrained into society due to the history of australia, so get over it.
hahaha. don't make me laugh. Take a look at India, and the number of public holidays they have. Not just Hindu holidays, but for other religions as well.

...aaand this does not affect their economy either, being one of the fast growing industrialised countries.

As a Muslim however, I don't think we need a "public" holiday. it should be fine to take a sickie, and i think employers should respect the religious needs of their employees - that would happen in a perfect world *rolls eyes*

Anyway, why do people take Mr Trad seriously? whose behalf is he speaking on? his family's? definitely not mine, and people should not assume that most Muslims agree with what the so called "spokespeople" of Islam say. ....have you noticed how the media only quotes the spokespeople who stir up controversy?

eh. all my friends from europe, (UK etc) say how many more public holidays australia has than where they live/lived.

we're talking about the western world here, which is largely influenced by christianity, but also largely secular. nowhere does islam come into the general description.

i don't think it's a question of whether it's good for the economy, i just think it is ridiculous. our public holidays go off what is ingrained into the history of australia and our history is not that of a muslim country.

i don't agree. if you think it should be fine to take a sickie, work on christmas day. and all throughout easter.

i do agree with you there. if you leave a country for a 'better life' and try to turn the new country into what you had back 'home' then there's no point in leaving. the people of said country are happy with their society as it is, so don't go trying to change everything.

mazarati - i think he was referring the the earlier generations.

Personally, i think it would be a nice prospect to recognise these days so we could learn more about the religions of our supposedly MULTICULTURAL nation. I mean, the amount of racist and lack of diversity some BOSers exhibit is a testmony to the prejudice that exists in our society towards other religions - the result of narrow-mindedness and not being exposed to what Australia is really about.

But it really wouldn't work out cos the Islamic calendar works in a different way to the national calendar, and other issues. So long as employers recognise their employees needs no matter what religion they are and religious days they need to take off.

What I'd like to see is the recognition of special traditional Aboriginal days, I'm sick of seeing our nation's history based on kicking people out of their trad. lands. Yes Kev said sorry, but we should be giving more recgonition and appreciation towards them. Afterall, it will always be their country. They deserve more recognition!

/facepalm.

Please read a whole thread before you post in it. I understand that to be more difficult here, but for fucks sake it took so long to put this fail thread to death...

It's not even 'their' country. Australianism is a Western concept. I thought Aboriginals didn't recognise land ownership anyways?
