the paper was super easy compared to past years. def high 50.

Q 1-4 was like total give away marks.
Q 5 was easy
Q 6-7 were okay.
Yeah for you. Not everyone comes first in the state, and has already done the 3 unit HSC the year before and already gotton a high E4.

you think about it, ive done all past HSC's from 1992-2008... this was one of the harder ones... 2003, 45-52/84=45/50
thats all i need to think, your turn. =P
The average 3unit mark is 40 percent, i saw it on Jeff Geha 50 hsc exam tips

What about 75 Namu? :p
haha I am actually not sure. Among accelerated people in my year this paper was really easy. I think that's because our teacher threw us all these crazy 3 unit NEAP past papers. But then non-accelerants were talking about how crazy this paper was.

In my opinion of the paper difficulty, I would assume that 83-84 should get 100 aligned and 81-82 should get around 99 and 78-80 prob 98....

Surely above half the state would have got above 50/84. IMHO i'd say 62-67

LOL half of the state? Probably not.

In past, the average mark for 3 unit is around high 30s and I doubt it would have risen that much even though this year's paper is considered "easy".

Even if we consider this exam to be the easiest one out there (which I realy doubt), the average should hover around low 40s.

If we safely assume that the band e4 cut off lies in mid 50s. Regardless how easy this paper was, it shouldn't over-fluctuate. So I reckon high 50s for band e4 cut off this year

i agree. except i effed up probability and forgot to put the nCr (whatever numbers they were) out the front. i sat there for ages trying to figure out what i'd done wrong because the chances were so low, time i could have spent actually getting marks.

thought it was fairly easy. wasn't anything in there that i couldn't do, just ran out of time in the end.

anyways, here i am worrying about my (hopefully) 65ish, and whether i can scrape 90 =|, and you all are going on about a 40s/50s cutoff. wow.

WHAT. Lol the paper wasn't very easy imo but equally, an average of 30-40% for the state is kind of sad.

What mark do you need for a 95 aligned anyway?

I have them on my jeff geha's book. I am sure there is internet link SOMEWHERE but I cbf finding it.

Let me write it out for you here then.
  • 1996 hsc - 43.37
  • 1998 - 41.75
  • 1991 - 40.79
  • 1997 - 40.76
  • 2000 - 40.53
  • 1988 - 39.56
  • 1995 - 39.23
  • 1994 - 38.62
  • 1993 - 37.23
  • 1992 - 36.52
  • 1990 - 32.60
  • 1989 - 32.34
^Something like that. I don't have the latest data but that gives a good indication.

I reckon 95 aligned = high 60 or 70

Umm nah. I had a brief glance. I think the average was like high 50s. Band E4 cut off is mid 70 i reckon for that.
