I thought iLeading was being phased in instead of "counselling" and instead of being told off you get "iLead", that is unless you steal the safe or something.

Hey guys, just wondering if i wanted to look into moving into HR or finding out career options what would be the best way to go about it?
What is your current position and/or regular responsibilities? Well pretty much the only way you can consciously plan your Wow career is to have a conversation with HR specialist and state your goals and stuff, and they might be able to help you out. Also, try and suss out the career paths of the current HR team.
The one I know best was a CSM and Head Cashier before moving into HR. I'm guessing you'll also have to go to TAFE/get a diploma in Human Resources?
Also, you have to be really nice, all HR people are nice in my experience.

Whats iLeading? I read it a couple of pages back and i`m intrigued!
iLeading - it says "ask your department manager" - I'm acting as one but don't know.
From experience I'm assuming it is when someone spots you doing something in an unsafe manner and tells you how to do it properly etc...

iLeading is a just a term I use at work. Obviously it's iLead where Pyro does explain it right. If you or someone sees someone else doing something unsafe that could lead to injury, death etc, then you report it by writing it down on an iLead form and is kept on record.

unless you steal the safe or something.
lol, i remember when armaguard practically accused me of this over the phone.

Armaguard: Is the safe open?
Me: Uhh, yes
Armaguard: Are you an authorised user?
Me: uhh, no
Armaguard: Why are you in there?
Me: uhh, I work here.

Meanwhile, there's 90k of pickups on my desk :shy:

Being taught to open the safe today though, I'm closing next thursday by myself :uhoh:

He he. Armaguard sound freaky. Am I an authorised user i wonder? I know how to open it, so i suppose that authorises me.

But how don't you know how to open the safe when you're trained to do pick ups? That is a part of it.
Oh my god i can't imagine doing a pick up for that much money, i'd have to reserve the next 10 hours to do it, i'm slow enough at picking up like 3k.

Inside the safe (or somewhere else similar) there should be a list of people who are authorised to open the safe, and you should NEVER be taught how to open it until you're on that list. But being a DM, you'd have to be. We have approx 14 people on ours, thats I think 6 supervisors, 4 managers and 4 cash office staff.

With the pickups though, that day I was only doing the second check. But actually doing the pickup, yeah I'm pretty slow. I think I had 12k a few weeks ago and we estimated it took me double the time it would take anyone else.
But sshhhh, I'm not meant to know how ;)

I know where one of our alarms are, but not where the frontend one is. They'd all look the same right? In that case I'll just open the cupboards and see if there is anything like it

We found out about our hold up alarm when the cops called asking if everything was alright.. we are like "umm.. yeah..?"
they are like "your hold up alarm was pressed... we have to come in anyway.. see you soon"
It is so easy to press though... just gotta put your hand in the wrong place, freaks me out every time i and accidentally touch it.

Wow I haven't been in here for a while! So much catching up to do! >_<

On a different note, just met my new SM yesterday and I just wanna say he is waaaaaaay better than the old one. He's so much more likeable and I can actually talk to this guy and get a real response. Also, he was "iLeading" so much yesterday I just laughed.
Which store did your SM come from again? Penrith?
Everyone always bagged on your old SM so I'm not surprised you're happy :p

Armed hold up... EEEK! That would be horrible :( :( :(. Im a bit worried about that fact now that Im at a store in the city (no-offence guys - I'm out of my comfort zone/store that is all)

Also, I start at my new store next week! ZOMG!
What store are you gonna be at?? :)

i tried google, only leads me back to wixxy
:shy:

Pretty much this... the main idea behind it is that it gets staff (i.e. non manager staff) involved in the safety process (while encouraging managers to continue to engage with staff over these issues). Promoting a culture of safe work practices, enforced by the "little people" (i.e. us, lol) who make the company work. ;)

fair enough, the thing i described must be something else, but it is a new training thing the managers are doing.

iLead has been around for quite a while (like, I'd say maybe 6 months to a year). Massive yellow folder in the SM's office.

From conversations about your store with my department manager :p Your (now former) SM is pretty bad, and the store is resultedly under-performing. Penrith SM (as in your SM now) is meant to be fairly good... will be interesting to see if your store (especially groceries/longlife) picks up in both appearance and sales.

This is my Department manager's views as a customer who has conversations with your store's SM/DM/Groceries manager whenever he shops there. Lol. As an insider you might see it differently, of course :p

More on iLead... :p

Powered by Google Docs

Woolworths is used here as a case study (all references to Destination Zero!) and iLead is mentioned. Yada yada. See slide 8 - iLead is engaging employees in conversations about safety etc.

Not impressed with my SM. A new rule was implemented today, stating that only Supervisors,Managers & S/S Operator are allowed inside the service desk. So,If I`m on SCO and I need, say 10c from the SCO container because the machine hasn`t dispensed the correct change,I have to stand at the desk and wait for someone to come. Same with the PA. And All my female colleagues who lock their bags in the service desk bag cupboard, now have to stand at the desk and pass their bag to a supervisor who can lock it away. And same to get cleaning supplies. Bloody Stupid! :( My CSM is NOT impresses. I want our old SM back!

They had this at my store under the old SM (for like, his last week). I gotta admit, security-wise it does make sense. Pain in the arse, but makes sense.

I found several up the front, but Im not sure which one is which. We have 2 labelled, one called "chime" and the other "alarm". I think the button labelled "alarm" is noisy, and the other button that isn't labelled is the silent alarm.
Nah the Staff Chimes just play an annoying tune which apparently doesnt work anymore (according to my DM), it's not used for any sort of alarm. For example, they might have used it to alert staff that the store will be opening in 5 minutes for example
The red "alarm" twist button under it is the silent alarm, it will not make any noise when triggered.

Re: service desk thing - omfg thats fucking bullshit.

Tell me about it Matthew! Gonna make self serve a pain in the arse!

Re: The chimes. Before we got the self serve,we used to have that working on the old service desk. We used to play the chimes before and after customer announcements

ie. Chimes. "Attention customers. As the time is now 10 past 6,this store is officially closed. Please make your way towards the checkout to finalise your purchases and thank you for shopping at Woolworths Riverton, the freshest of Fresh food people."Chimes
