my plan is to just ace the first 4 questions and get somewhere around 90% for those questions and just casually do the rest. which should guarantee an E3 and if by some miracle, an E4.

so what are your plans/ strategies, and how long do u guys take to do the first four questions

Get the first 6 questions all right and that's mid-low E4. The first 5 all correct should scrape E4, but obviously higher to compensate for a potentially average assessment mark.

I'm going to attempt to get the first 6 correct and some of 7 and/or 8 in the 3 hours or, look to compensate hard questions in the first 6 with a good attempt at 7 or 8, if time permits.

how much do you reckon you'd get for q.8
depends on the difficulty of it. dont get discouraged just because its q 8. 2007 q 8 was just all proving and it was all so connected that it was a gift 15 marks.
but 2003 hsc q 8 and 2001 was proving that e and pi are irrational which were too hard for non olympiad students (like 99.50% of the state)

even if your aiming for low E4 you should still turn to q 7 and 8 because they are all so connected that you could easily pick up 10/30 marks from them just by doing the second part of questions.

Q1-4 first hour
Q5-6 next 50 minutes
Q7-8 60 minutes
10 minutes checking ftw?
exam strategies? just think with a straight head, most important for maths. often the solution is mindblowingly simple and you have wasted time on an incorrect method or a mistake earlier in your working

yeah thinking with a straight head becomes harder in the exam though.

Aiming for 94

My strategy
1. Complete first 4 questions at most in a hour
2. Dont waste time on questions you dont get, Move on
3. Q5 and Q6 at minimum by 2nd hour
4. Q7 as much as possible, and get a few in q8 where possible
5. Dont expect 120/120
6. Attempt the whole Paper
My tutor always told me if you cant get anywhere with a part in the first minute or two of doing it, Move On. Very Valuable. Come back when if you have time

I expect to lose at most 6 marks from Q1-Q5
And Hope to lose on 15 or so in Q6-Q8
Aimin for raw mark 76-85% (98/120 aim)

Good luck to every1 on monday, wish u guys the best

i thought a raw 75 was an e4?
Yes, like I said, the first 6 correct (ie. 90/120) will get a mid-low E4. Or even if you meant 75/120, it should just scrape E4, but certainly high E3.

umm but sometimes they hide some pretty hard questions in questions 1-6. so getting 90/120 might need people to get parts of q 7 and 8 as well.

Yeah I know, I even mentioned it in my previous posts. But in an ideal situation, it would be awesome to get the first 6 all correct.

hoping to scrap a band e4 by doing most of the first 6 questions and getting a mark here or there question 7 and 8.
I think my strategy is to work slowly (first 4 Qs in an hour 15 mins) and not make silly mistakes because I always do that and then Q5,6 in an hour and give myself 45 mins to look at Q7 and 8.
im actually really nervous...

This. Just because you think you've done all of Q1-6 doesn't mean you will get full marks, or get the 90/120 mark. You should be cherry picking those marks from Q7 and Q8 if you want to be more secure to get 90/120.
