Idk if I should be freaking out or no :(

For my math standard 2 exam I realised I put the wrong student number. I mixed the last 2 numbers (34) and wrote it as (43).

I emailed my head teacher who has marked HSC papers before and she said its fine many students do this, besides apparently many students write it worse (some no number, half of the total student number, extra or missing number, or just plain wrong)

She said as long as my centre number was correct (which I do remember writing correctly) I'm fine. But I'm freaking out.

I just realised td at my modern exam :(

What procedures or whatever does NESA take for errors like this? Do they check the numbers again and the centre numbers before picking up everyone's paper? Because it's such a small mistake to see.

firstly, it's gonna be fine... your teacher is right this probably happens all the time. NESA knows how important the HSC is to people and they make you write both numbers for a reason right?
NESA absolutely can deal with this sort of thing. Could you imagine if some students failed the HSC because they wrote the wrong number? I don't think I've ever heard anyone with that problem...

You're gonna do great I'm sure

nesa will chase up your papers, and I can guarantee you are not the only one who messed up or forgot. trust your teacher. if there's someone you can find to reach out to at nesa then i suppose there's no harm in it, but you'll be okay, and they'll get your mark to you.

Omg I hope so :((( because I'm aiming for a band-6 and can't imagine if my multiple choice section is discarded because of this.

I dunno I haven't heard anyone going through thr same thing :((

I asked my friends they all joked about me getting a zero which isn't really funny... they all have offers and I don't and it annoys me since I'm the only one trying really.

damn u prob might get zero, but im sure they cross check with center number
no they wont get 0 bro, I deadass forgot to write my nesa number for english and got mad stressed but then I talked to the people and apparently they check everything like 3 times so it's not deep; for example, ur correct nesa number is written on your other documentation (regardless of whether you wrote it or not) and its cross checked after to make sure.

It's nice to see your supervisors were chill about it :))

I think if my centre number is correct all should be well, and I'm sure in the very unfortunate circumstances where I even messed up my centre number, the supervisors should have checked it as it's 3 numbers and used by the 100 or so students that took the exam in the hall ://

Thank you for the response!

I did the same with my multiple choice paper on the math standard exam  What it was is that my centre number has a 3 and my student number has a 3, and I wrote the 3's and they all looked like 1's and now i'm scared shtlessly about it. Do the supervisors correct/check the centre numbers or student numbers? Or before they scan them off to markers, do they scan them and insert the images into a folder by school? Im not quite sure how to feel about this. I have visual arts tomorrow and I can't focus at all now.

Was our student number printed on the mcq sheet or no?

look just calm down im sure they will be able to trace it back to u if u didnt write it and if u put the wrong student number, there wont be an entry under ur name so they can trace it back to u

alrighty thank youuuuu

Now I know to take my time with my handwriting when writing centre and student numbers.

Ill ask the supervisors tomorrow if they do check for handwriting on student numbers
