Studying Using Past Papers for Prelims and HSC (1 Viewer)

Guys this post may come off as really stupid so forgive me, but how do you guys study using past papers if you haven't covered all the content in them yet? Do you nitpick specific questions - if so doesn't that defeat the purpose of doing it in timed conditions? Also how far back do you recommend going with these past papers? I'm confused so someone help me please

Just cover content asap and start past papers
Nitpicking questions will take too long and is very inefficient
Start from the most recent papers, progressing to the oldest

My school uses atomi, not the best app in my opinion, but you can generate practise exams with specified modules on it it’s kinda useful. There’s probably more apps like that somewhere though. In terms of working with past papers I go as far back as the last syllabus change only. Anything further back is only good for practice not exam prep

I actually only did past papers by specific topics/modules and 'nitpicked' specific questions until trials/HSC. I found this made it easier to familiarise myself with the style of questions that could be assessed since I only did a few that were relevant to my upcoming assessment. By the time of trials/HSC I mastered those topics/modules and began to focus on the questions which I hadn't yet looked over. However this is from a student who NEVER learnt ahead and was one who was on track with the class!!
