Haha you don't say "Oh hey can I come to the xmas party please?" You call them up with a "question"... just have a query about *something* then say "So... what are you guys doing for your xmas party this year?" If you guys got the offer that means you must have some knowledge of small talk.

Why don't you guys just call them and ask whether you are invited to xmas party? I'm sure it's the same at PwC but we've been flat out even as the year is coming to a close. They've probably just forgotten, it's not that you're not invited... I mean if you've signed the contract & submitted it...

You're not required to do a double in the first place... so yes.

    Portfolio Mgmt

Dudes... does anyone know what is going to happen with Portfolio marks? Has anyone spoken to David? I'm too chicken to talk to him ... how did you all find it? Are a lot people applying for special consideration?

Well yeah but I think as part of the requirements you're supposed to work under CA's as well as study for your exams and most firms will pay for your CA.

I think there is a false impression that you're "bound" for six years. You're really bound for four years... you can choose not to take the grant/book allowance so you have nothing to pay back if you decide to leave after graduating. Alternatively, you can take the grant/book allowance and...

As the case is with school... if you want it it's always available. You just have a bigger pool to choose from :p

A waste of what exactly? I'd rather wear my school uniform... or some sort of uniform. After you accumulate lots of work clothes as you do with casuals you waste half your morning trying to work out what to wear. But I can understand... you guys are gonna be in a honeymoon period for...

Nothing's ever free ;) It's cheaper than FF.

For most of the year you're not even in the office & it's too much of a hassle coming back to the office just to go to the gym.

    Ernst & Young

If you're doing audit I wouldn't recommend joining the EY gym.

50 days is an overkill. I believe your salary is slightly lower there as well? It's not 26 days of study leave at EY anyway. It's 6 days of study leave and 20 days annual leave but you can use your annual if you feel the need to. If you're doing 2 subjects 6 days is plenty especially if you...

I thought you might say that but I'm guessing tax otherwise as mentioned above... if not then what?

    Ernst & Young

Well they say that assuming you will stick it out with them throughout your career... however I was told by a manager today that you are not required to do your CA once you graduate but if you want to make it past senior it's probably a good idea to do it although you can't really go wrong with...

Forget about it till the HSC is over. Focus on killing the HSC and use your UAI as ammo to hit at them again around January. If they call you you will make it to interview and begin working with the other trainees in your year. Don't give up but just let it rest for now.

    Fav. Teacher sayings?

    hahaha that's a good one :)

    Neighbours

OMG you can download Neighbours?!?! Where where!! Please do tell :)

    Usyd ? Unsw?

It's only restricted if you want it to be... there are many comm/law students working at accounting firms and the fact that UNSW's timetabling is so flexible allows them to do so. I think it's a fair deal for them to request you haven't failed any subjects so far to allow you to overload...
