    HSC and Family Pressure/Expectations

Re: How many people are in the situation of having to live up to famil expectations Elder sibling got 97.75, so that puts a little pressure on me lol. Other than that, it mainly comes from teachers, friends and myself. I don't personally want to disappoint my family, but they've been pretty...

    Night before studier?

I'm a last minute studier trying to pull off 96... I reckon 70s is very possible :)

    opinion on journeys question????

Yeah, our teacher was telling us that they'll probably change the text type of one of the module essays from paper 2. AOS tends to be pretty straightforward though... I don't think they'll go out of their way to surprise us.

    opinion on journeys question????

If they give you an idea, you can always take a metaphorical approach though :) With a quote, I've always found it harder to make it fit.

other people making me feel guity.

If you're generally a top student, it doesn't mean you don't sometimes feel as thouh you're genuinely stuffed. I can definitely understand that it would be annoying when people who usually do well say things like that, but they have the right to worry just as much as everyone else.

    S.o.s

I've spoken to a lot of uni students who say your UAI means next to nothing a month after the HSC happens. The fact that you don't want to go to uni just means you should be stressing even less :) Try to remember that a lot of people are in the same boat in terms of being scared. Give yourself...

Anyone else done subjects they regret doing?

No words within the english language could possibly express the sheer torture that was DT... ever. So much work for unbelievable little gain.

    Night before studier?

Firstly, you bolded me :D Troll is quite a nice word, i agree ;) I hate that feeling. I tend to give myself unrealistic standards which I know I can never reach, so I can give myself a reason to feel horribly guilty. A little masochistic actually lol, but that's beside the point. I've always...

    Night before studier?

I must agree again :p It really is quite terrible... I started off this year aiming for 98.5, and at this stage, I just want to get into my course (or hey, any course would suit me fine!). Yr 12 has been seriously crushing in terms of the faith I have in my own abilities. You start thinking "My...

    Night before studier?

I agree, although I've always thought they were at least somewhat linked. The internal pressure often arises because of the externally accepted notion that the hsc is the most important thing to have ever occured in the history of all occurences. Out of that, I think a lot of students end up...

    Night before studier?

I did indeed bold you :p Haha I wouldn't worry... I already have a more than terrible story prepared, and I think such a brilliant simile would upset its overall mood of awfulness. Yeah, I'm with you on that completely. I've been studying non-stop today (other than current BOSing, of course)...

    Night before studier?

Count yourself lucky lol. It probably does differ between schools, but I'm definitely in the same situation as Maystar currently. I can understand that there are a million different paths you can take to get into the courses or fields you want, but it stills feels a tad apocalyptic if I don't do...

    Night before studier?

Yeah, I think that's one of the worst parts about the HSC. Everyone is pressured to start studying from the yr11 holidays, and if you don't, you feel like you're doomed before you've even begun. I know these exams are very important, but there shouldn't be such an insane amount of pressure...

studying 8-10 hrs a day during STUVAC

By 10pm tonight, it'll be 14 hours of study today :D I honestly didn't think I'd make it! Granted, it's only because I need to make up for the fact that I only started studying last week lol. Seriously regretting that now... Caitlin63, I hope the panic attack wasn't too bad. I have a friend...

    Only one making NOtes STILL?

Yeah, I'm still making notes (I need to finish Modern, Legal and English Ext1). I tend to be making notes right up to the days before my exams, but it works for me somehow :) I'd suggest spending your time actually learning the content. I agree with your comments... if they've done a question...

studying 8-10 hrs a day during STUVAC

I think you'll be fine with that :) I only really started studying properly a few days ago, and I've already gotten quite a lot done. It just depends on how effectively you actually work during your study periods. Not to mention, congrats on already being partially done! That must be awesome.

    How competitive is year 12?

Yeah, it kind of is lol. It'd be so much nicer if it wasn't. Still... things are generally ok at my school. Very competitive and very rank-focused, but not to a pathologically bitchy level.

    How competitive is year 12?

That sounds terribly encouraging :p I think you may have scared away all the year 11's now.
