So what are you guys playing at the moment?

Bleh, I relapsed at the start of the holidays. Bought the expansion, leveled to 87 and then quit the game (again) in disgust. Literally nothing has changed. I don't want to spend over four hours a day for the next few months on pixels just so I can get good gear and finally have some fun. And...

    Advanced Science

No, you don't need to do any advanced units in first year but it's definitely advised. I'm not sure about pharmacology, but you should be fine for biology related units.

What to say when people ask what your atar was?

I break down in hysterical tears forcing them to retreat.

    WAM to ATAR conversion ?

    From personal experience I'd say for my university, course and units: WAM - ATAR 70 - 75 ~90 75 - 80 ~94 80 - 85 ~97 85 99 90 99.75 92 + 99.95 Of course, this is completely inaccurate for a lot of reasons and...

    human bio - few questions

There's an extra report you need to write on an area of your own interest and a special seminar series (probably the highlight of the unit). I'm not sure if the structure of the practicals is any different.

    Timetables?

I'm doing adv. science, going into second year. I haven't decided what I want to major in yet, but I'm doing chemistry, maths and physics units so something out of those three. Initially I was set on biochemistry and chemistry. Not exactly sure, I think he's doing some neuroscience/pharmacology...

    Timetables?

I was 'planning' on majoring in that as well. I think rippy might have been contemplating something along those lines too. And then we did MBLG1901.

    Maths is a wonderful thing

Hmmm... the MATH2962 lecture notes are only ~150 pages long whereas the ones for MATH2961 are almost twice that. What's up with this?

    Side chains

    Because it would just be an extension of the main chain. C - C - C - C - C - C | C | C Is the same as C - C - C - C - C - C - C - C as far as you guys need to know.

    Timetables?

Expect ~23 hours a week over five days. You can probably reduce that to four, with a lecture or two on the day that you don't want to be at uni. Most of the classes I attended were recorded so I took Tuesdays off and just watched them all online. I strongly recommend that you move your maths...

    Timetables?

Well, I've only got eight practicals for chemistry and I don't know how many for physics so I don't think it'll be as bad as last semester. I might be able to change the practical to a Friday, but the travel time (~3 hours all up) is worse than having the clash... Coffee is one of my best...

    Timetables?

Looks like I get more or less all day from Monday to Thursday, and then Friday off. Four unavoidable clashes and one triple clash :newburn:.
  13. Obvious

    Timetables?

There's an online tool that lets you select what hours you don't want to be at university. I was able to get my lectures/tutorials in the places I wanted by tinkering with it for a while.

    Units of study scaling

I've definitely heard of some advanced units with crazy scaling in past years (maths), and normal units with horrendous down scaling (second year med sci.). I'd probably leave scaling out of the equation when making decisions. First year advanced chemistry is quite a bit more involved and I...

    Units of study scaling

I calculated the contribution of scaling to my grade for CHEM1904 and my raw mark was about three percent lower than my final. Given the fact that the normal papers are considerably easier, I'd guess that these factors would cancel each other out.

    B Science (Advanced)

Watch out for the down scaling in second and third year units, I hear it's horrible.

Advice to future Bachelor of Business students at UTS

Aren't you shooting yourself in the foot by only taking one subject per semester? You're neglecting the development of a lot of valuable skills (time management, effective study, performance under pressure etc.). You're going to be badly prepared to cope with the stresses of a real job, and...
