Confused about delta H for spontaneous reactions

Delta H has nothing to do with a reaction being spontaneous or non-spontaneous. You're confusing it with electrical potentials (if that's the right term), which are found on the data sheet in the HSC exam.

Go to disadvantages for radioisotopes in industry and medicine?

I would try to relate the type of radiation they emit to the advantages. For example, if something was emitting beta radiation (electrons) I would say that the penetration is only strong enough to do its thing near the site where its placed, as opposed if it were alpha or gamma radiation it...

Color of Iron (II) Phosphate precipitate?

I think there's a problem with using iron (II) because it quickly oxidises to iron (III).

any prediction what there going to focus on this year ?

A long question on batteries is quite likely I think, they haven't asked it in a while. Others were saying that it could also be something on nuclear chemistry.

HELP with INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY OPTION :)

Yeah, I think you're right. I looked at past papers and they asked about Q in 2008.

    Electronegativity

This is probably a bit dubious, but I was bored and thinking about how I would explain polarity. I looked up the definition for electronegativity, and it says that it's the tendency of an atom to attract electrons. But shouldn't it be the tendency of a nucleus to attract electrons? Since an atom...

    Raw mark for band 6?

/shrug I was pretty good about knowing about what I got throughout the year. My teacher was a HSC marker, and he gave me 24/25 for my collectivisation and industrialisation essay in the trial. The essay I wrote in the HSC was much better.

HELP with INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY OPTION :)

Pretty sure Q isn't in the syllabus. Our teacher told us that the author of Conq Chem HSC was whacked when he wrote that section lol. The way we were taught was that Where a, b, c, d are the number of moles and A, B, C, D are the substances. Then you put those in into this equation: And the...

    Pressure & Rate of reaction

You should always try to talk about pressure. But be careful, pressure only applies if it's a closed system (container).

    Raw mark for band 6?

    lolwut I literally got 25/25 for two essays, and I still don't think I'll get a band 6 :(

Color of Iron (II) Phosphate precipitate?

Okay, I could be wrong but isn't it only the cation that affects the colour (I seriously wouldn't trust myself on this)? And in that case, green would be Fe2+ and brown would be Fe3+? Also, for identifying phosphate, don't you just add ammonia (to make the solution basic) and then barium, which...

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't care, but I don't think that's fully correct. I think the Haber Process was introduced at something like 1910, whereas the blockades occurred in 1916 or maybe 1917. So it was already there prior to that.

2014 Modern History HSC exam predictions thread

I found this essay on totalitarianism. http://bankstowntafehsc.swsi.wikispaces.net/file/view/Totalitarianism%20-%20long%20essay.doc/524551830/Totalitarianism%20-%20long%20essay.doc It's totally impossible to write/read, but it mentions some things others in this thread haven't.

    Format for answering prac questions

Be extremely careful when describing experiments. In my trial I had to describe the experiment for measuring the pH of different acids. I literally wrote this: "Use a pH meter to measure the pH of each acid at a known concentration. Wash the pH meter with distilled water after measuring each...

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

I looked at your paper. You posted your answer to question 4 as D. Shouldn't it be B? In fact, I'm certain that it should be B. D accounts for sulfate only, whereas the question is asking "What mass of barium sulfate precipitate would be expected to be formed.."

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

    I was thinking. Could OH- perhaps be it, with something like NH3 + H2O --> NH4 + OH- ?

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

What about this? Aren't nitrous, ethanoic and sulfurous acids all weak, leaving only water? But water is water?
