Uni Entry System about to Collapse (SMH) - (re: UNSW)

Agreed. I'd expect that sort of scaremongering in The Telegraph, but not in SMH. Very disappointing indeed. On another note, what's the big deal? Nobody who got on or over the cut-off was denied entry, UNSW stressed that themselves. They simply allocated a few places for people who got below...

    Should Australia be a Republic?

Re: Should Australia be a Republic. If somebody makes an ad-hominem at you, you do not return the favour, ignore it and continue the argument. You apply an assumed set of morals in your argument. Not everybody may respect the military, regardless of their role in the past. Pacifists may see...

    WebCT upgrade gone mad

I laughed at the first part, and agree wholeheartedly with the second part. On the other hand, you get *some* lecturers who aren't bothered to completely keep up with the changes, so simply create a forum, and a link in WebCT leading back to an HTML page (poorly written, but who cares about...

    Mathematics at UoW

I'd possibly suggest you take MATH141/142 instead of 187/188. You can replace 187/188 with 141/142 if your maths ability isn't strong enough. If I recall correctly, the mathematics subjects required for ECTE degrees are MATH141/161/187 (one of these), MATH142/162/188 (one of these) and MATH287...

Who do you think is the Greatest Australian Prime Minister?

At the cost of formal diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (also known as Taiwan). This is difficult. I like his idea, but I don't like him assuming power from the states... so I will have to be against this one. :( But... but... knight!

2007 State Election - Labor or the Coalition/Iemma or Debnam?

Yet there's a bad idea. Perhaps a reworking of Federation would be a better idea.

hi, I'm after text books for "Network and Systems Management"

CSCI102 - No textbooks. CSCI103 - When I did it, it was completely different. We had a textbook but it was useless. CSCI114 - A textbook is prescribed... but you're learning basic C++, use the Internet for goodness sake. You are an IT student, after all. CSCI124 - No longer called Object...

No other university degree requires effort? Arts and Computer Science were the wrong choices for me then, because I've had to work my arse off. Recently I saw friends graduate with Distinction, or go onto their Honours year, and most of them didn't score the UAI required to get into UOW for...

First contact UOW regarding your degree. They might let you. If not, internal transfer. Enrol in any degree you can and transfer after a year. Once you're in, it's much easier to change what you want to study. As an Arts student, you'll be able to follow the degree structure for Communication...
