    Format of exam?

The whole paper is stapled together but you can pull off the multiple choice, formula sheet and electives. They are stapled as booklets within the whole.

    First hand investigations

A note on marking, they normally are looking to give you marks. If you have a look at the marking schemes you will see what the markers work off. They will see how far up you can go. However, if you write an impossible prac you are not going to be able to obtain full marks. If the prac was the...

Students battle to learn hsc raw marks

Nothing has been posted about the result of this appeal. They took the discussion private after the appeal was submitted.

    Will I get caught?!

cloudmaker, cloudstreet, cloudheaven its all English to me.

    Will I get caught?!

From what I can read, it says you have to study at LEAST 5 texts, one of each type. That doesn't say you can't do more than two of one type. I also can't see anywhere in the assessment section or on the exam paper saying that you must answer on different types of texts. So, I would say you...

Can you do Snr. Science and other Sciences?

Only if they finished the Physics Prelim as you have to drop a science to go into senior at the start of year 12.
  7. H

Can you do Snr. Science and other Sciences?

You can drop into Senoir science at the completion of the preliminary but only if you have completed another preliminary science. This can result in you doing senoir science and another science in year 12. You can't study senoir science with another science in the preliminary.
  8. H

    Will I get caught?!

Or the one who decides they don't know anything and tries to answer every question.
  9. H

    Will I get caught?!

Schools put in information on what options and texts are being studied so the Board can estimate how many markers are needed for each question but they don't say you have to keep to it.
  10. H

    Will I get caught?!

From the syllabus Text Requirements • the close study of at least FIVE TYPES OF PRESCRIBED TEXT, one drawn from EACH of the following categories: – Shakespearean drama – prose fiction – drama or film – poetry – nonfiction or media or multimedia texts
  11. H

    Will I get caught?!

The school will never know. The question is if the paper for some reason specifies to answer in terms of the novel you studied.

Ranked 1st = Mark not affected?

Whoever told you that was spinning you a story. The two people would recieve the average of the first two marks as there internal assessment. 91.5. Ahen, yes they would look at the spread of the internal and external marks and align them as described in the FAQ...

    wondering bout course structure...

The other option which very few students (I think less than 100 last year) do, that is Geophysics. The other thing that can come into which options are done is what resources, texts and equipment, schools have available. Geophysics is not covered in any of the standard texts. Most schools the...

    maglev trains!

They aren't inducing currents in the superconductor. The superconductor is there as a large electromagnet. The electromagnets outside the train are used to support and drive the train by producing repulsive and attractive forces between the two electromagnets.
  15. H

    maglev trains!

What I meant is like in a MRI machine. The current is set up in the superconductor and left. This means that you don't need a power supply on the train or the ability to turn it on and off.

Is getting a tied rank good or bad ????

Doesn't make any real difference if you are going to get close exam marks as well. Only place it really matters is first.

Black body Radiation and the Ultraviolet Catastrophy

The original models were based on classical wave theories. The most common was the Rayleigh-Jeans law. These had the radiation being emitted increasing continuosly as you increase the frequency. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/mod6.html#c4 It wasn't so much the equation E=hf that...

    Cloud Chamber Set up?

Remember the need for a risk assessment
  19. H

Black body Radiation and the Ultraviolet Catastrophy

Think of it in terms of filling containers. The equation E=hf determines the size of the container. You are going to more likely be able to fill a series of small containers rather than a few large containers. This means that you don't produce many large containers of energy, so the curve drops...

    Independent an dependent variables

In general it is independent on the X. However, in a experiment like yours where the slope has a mathematical meaning they will commonly swap them around. By plotting V on the y and X on the X they can calculate the resistance from the slop directly.
