So who has sat in on lectures...

well at least the accounting lecture on 17th was pretty fun (at night that is) :) btw I made a vow to attend all accounting lectures (the night ones that is). It'd be pretty good since I only attended ~5 discrete lectures, and I actually missed one higher comp lecture ;(

is UNSW overrated in terms of prestige?

probably not, once you sit in higher comp 1A, you'll know why UNSW beats all other unis hands down.. On the other hand, when you sit on BDM lectures... </offtopic> If it's prestige, I don't think UNSW is overrated at all. I mean, doesn't the research part of UNSW make up quite a bit of...

    a,b in field. ab = 0. show a = 0 or b = 0

if "relative walk in the park" comes from someone other than turtle, then maybe its true, but if its from the undisputed king of maths.. (doesnt hold much ground now does it? :D)

Why are there so many courses??

oh gee, not as good as it sounds. And they have to do a SENG4XXX? oh well, to each their own interests, including masochists :p

Why are there so many courses??

how can you feel sorry for people who get $10000++ a year for doing.. well, just an interview :p. Then again, mathematicians don't really build bridges :p.

Why are there so many courses??

Well, with software engineering, you get good amount of practicality through playing with pain (cough*SENG1020*cough) and sometimes through psychological blackholes (cough*BDM*cough), and enough of the "research" aspects of computers (i.e the computing electives). I for one didnt regret it...

my maths teacher is a dj

I agree.. the amount of physical stress trying to understand new concepts are far greater than the willingness to learn.. There's probably a solution around this, but knowing mathematicians, once they know that a solution exists they probably will just stop there :p. just kidding.. btw...

    a,b in field. ab = 0. show a = 0 or b = 0

    yeah, so that's the question. Its off my finite maths textbook, let F be a field and a, b in F with ab = 0. Show that a = 0 or b = 0. Is it because, in a field, a x b will never equal zero, unless a = 0 or b = 0? But then that's the given statement.. aarrrrghhhhh!
