    What To Do??

If you want to focus on humanities then an Arts degree or one of the various offshoots of an Arts degree is probably your best bet.

    Semester I Chatter Thread (2007)

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread! It must have been at least a month since the USU elections, there's been heaps and heaps of rain since then, so why are there still chalkings advertising Ruchir everywhere?

    bands

The raw marks are aligned to each band. It's the aligned marks which follow the Band 5 80-89 etc thing. So in a particular year they might decide that a raw mark of 72 in Chemistry would just satisfy the description of a Band 5 in Chemistry. So raw 72 becomes aligned 80. They then decide that a...

A lot of questions in terms of counting marks

    1. I don't think you're allowed to be officially enrolled in 2U, 3U and 4U at the same time. Some 4U people sit their school's internal 2U exams informally to give them the option of dropping down later, but you can't do that officially, certainly not during the HSC exams. For 3U English: a...

    Is History ext hard?

Combination of both, although it varies. Personally I found most of the first section (What is history) pretty easy to digest, but I had nfi what to do for the case study. The project requires quite a bit of commitment for a good mark.

Official Semester 1 (2007) Exams Thread

Re: Official Semester 1 Exams Thread HSTY1022 take-home seems reasonable, except I might have to do the 'escape clause' tell-me-a-story section instead of the hellish Europe and the Outside World questions in Section C. I was surprised that there were so many books from the reading lists...

    project log book?

Technically? Yes, it does have to be checked. Syllabus says. However, no one from the Board ever sees the projects, they're internally marked, so it doesn't matter enormously as long as everyone in your school is in the same boat.

    BA ( Psychology)

I may have said this somewhere else, but as far as I can see the only difference is that in the BA (Psychology) you can do one more senior Psych unit than in the normal BA. But as that isn't required for the major or for honours it's not really that big a deal. As to why they bothered making...

    Subjects

If you're confident enough that you'll do well in all 10, and don't want more units to fall back on just in case, then yes.

    Subjects

    1. The UAI is the only selection criterion used for most uni courses. It is based solely on your best ten units. However, for a few courses they'll also look at your results in specific subjects (notably UNSW Commerce this year, which selected some people based on Maths - but they only looked at...

does anyone find yr 11 too hard?

I didn't find the jump from Y10 to Y11 that bad, don't know why. Y12 was harder than Y11, but it was a gradual steepening, not a sudden leap. Preliminary forms a base for the HSC, yeah. However, they're not allowed to ask you about content that's in the preliminary syllabus and not the HSC...

    HSTY1034 Early Modern Europe

Anyone done this course? I'm enrolled for it, but the course description seems a bit vague and I'm wondering if it'd be better to switch to a different HSTY course. Or even a different subject altogether, since ANHS will fulfil the prereqs for senior history.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

I don't know why they even bother with question time any more. The whole thing is a partisan hatefest that adds nothing to governance. I really don't understand the government's whole 'omg omg a labor government will b controlled by the UnIoNs!!!1!!' thing. Does Joe Average really dislike...

Official Semester 1 (2007) Exams Thread

Re: Official Semester 1 Exams Thread I'm going pretty well for ancient Greece, on the assumption that the vase question will be general enough for me to just talk about why Beazley's method is largely pointless. I could go for pages about it and not say anything original, but oh well. It's a...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

ACTU launching door-to-door campaign in marginal seats based on its computer database; Hockey describes this as (gasp!) an American tactic. Wayne Swan points out fairly that this is good coming from a party which used automated phone messages from the PM last election.

Are there too many Internationals at UNI these days?

International students pay for their degree upfront. They're paying for the education system as much as we are. I agree with ObjectsInSpace that it's a stupid poll, by the way.
