This is the precise thing students shouldn't do! Although a lot of people disagree with the scaling system, it does work.. and people should definitely not choose subjects based on how much they "scale".
The sad, but true fact is that a student with nothing but extensions and "high-scaling...
Oh my god.. on a completely unrelated topic, was there ever a kids game show on NBN called "My Generation"?? Or something along those lines?
I've been trying to think of the name of the show for months!
Does anyone know why the size of the Chemistry lab classes keeps changing? When I first registered, it said it was full with 5/5 places. Then it was 17/20 and had vacant spots. Now it's 23/30 with more vacant spots. Is it going to continue to rise? When will it stop??
The mark will have absolutely no effect on your UAI, but your dropping of rank might if you fail to jump back up to fifth. Rank is the only important thing in regards to assessments. Don't worry though, you still have plenty of time to get back on track. :)
Oooooh seeka, do you enjoy Forensics?? I'm really keen to start, but am freaking out a bit about law. Is it that hard? Do you have any tips for me? ;)
P.S. We live close, I'm in Silver Ridge. :)
SAM uses your HSC marks, which have already been adjusted according to your class rank. The type of school you attend doesn't directly affect your UAI.
The Board of Studies does not take into account whether your school is selective/private/public, they just care about your class rank.
Tell me about it!
I just figured out the difference between my school average and HSC marks:
English - off by 3
Biology - off by 2
Maths - off by 1
IPT - off by 1
SDD - spot on!
Go school! :p
An 86 in Advanced gives me a UAI of 93.70, and with Standard gives a UAI of 94.10.
Perhaps it's because a mark of 86 is a lot harder to get in Standard than it is in Advanced, and would therefore get scaled up more than Advanced?
