    possible biggie this year?

    The only way to alleivate the problem is to stop using CFC's. These days they use HCFC's which have a much lower ozone dpeleting potential. Gradually they are using HFC's which have absolutely no ozone depleting potential. I think you will find that there was an international agreement in the UN...

    Time allocation for Friday

    Some ppl swear by doing the MC last. I prefer just to do the test in order. Invariably you will end up with time to spare if you know your content and you answer the questions correctly. Use that time to check over the multiple choice questions first, then the short answers(mainly the maths...

    lets just agree the english forks our lives over

    Don't worry, you will get over it; just takes time. I remember doing film studies in year 9 and 10 as an elective It took me 6 months to stop noticing all the techniques in films, and now I am completely de-filmised because I can't remember a thing about it Its all good :D

    Whose hand will be sore after tomorrows test?

    I'm hoping that the big markers thsi year will be mainly storyboards adn DFD's, to reduce the load of writing. I feel more for the modern history students though - 3 hours of pure essay writing is unbelievably tough on the hands :(

    no study for HSC?

    You could always take a stab and study what you think might be in the exam for example last year some ppl just studied Weimar and didnt learn anything about Nazi Germany; fortunately there was a Weimar question. Perhaps this time you could just study Nazi Germany and forget about Weimar...

    depression

    In this question make sure you focus on the impact of the depression. According to my teacher, who marked this the year it was in the hsc, many students simply wrote out a response to 'why did the Weimar Republic collapse'. You basically have to talk about the impact that the depression had...

    Electrolysis - cleaning copper

    Both the Chloride ions and water will get oxidised, because their oxidation potentials are very close to each other. The reason behind this is that if there is a high enough voltage supplied, and if the concentration of chloride ions is high enough, then it too will be oxidised...

    2UNIT paper apparently needed 3UNIT skills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Most of the 3 unit kids are not kicking up a fuss saying that the if 2 unti kids studied, then they should easily have aced the test. They are merely stating that the exam did not require 3 unit skills, which is the topic of this whole thread. No doubt this exam was hard, I will admit that 2...

    ELECTROCHEMISTRY helP :((

    Na+ and K+ are never ever reduced in solutions, only when they are in molten form. E.g. molten NaCl...I am presuming that you are using inert graphite/platinum electrodes. Water is reduced instead. So everything above water in that standard potentials data sheet will not be reduced.

    need help with maths question

    let the roots be @ and 0 @ + 0 = -b/a = -2m @0 = 0 Therefore @ = -2m so the equation of the quaratic is (x+2m)(x-0) = 0 (x+2m)(x) = 0 x = -2m m = x/-2 2nd question 3 - sqrt2 3 + sqrt2 so the equation is just (x-(3-sqrt2))(x-(3 + sqrt2)) ... just expand it out and you get the...
