Can't believe I missed this gem of a post.
That all being said, I think some of si2136's arguments were just expressed using less formal language - ie. instead of "used it as a tool to make cash", it could've been clarified as "used it predominantly to make short term speculative gains".
And...
I can imagine it being horrendously outdated but there's definitely quite a few core concepts which are useful even now (eg process flow diagrams, SQL queries, etc)... but maybe they just need a bit more depth.
I remember when the new guys started in year 11 - they definitely worked hard and were more committed than many of us who had been there since year 7. I'd say keep up that attitude because it'll pay off from what I saw with my new classmates who did really well.
23 mins difference doesn't sound too bad (although I guess that means 46 mins each day). That being said, I was in a similar position to you and so was my best friend from high school. I chose UNSW, he chose UTS. He later transferred to UNSW commerce.
I think the buses are regular enough that...
Expenses other than rent... I'd imagine the main costs would be food and transport, and depending on the arrangements you may need to contribute to cleaning costs/products. I know some sharehouses have a cleaner who does the common areas but not all have this.
Don't forget initial costs of...
How far is it for you to get to UTS?
Without going into stigmas/stereotypes about the academic rigour or quality of teaching or the brand at each university, I thought both UNSW and UTS are not too far apart. In both cases you'd be getting off the train at Central but with UNSW you'd need to...
I think the key thing is a cadetship (for both the UBS one as well as any of the accounting cadetships) is that they are a job first, with an allowance for you to study outside of this. In other words, your work performance is key and the expectation will be you are committed and progress within...
I wouldn't let that sway you too much - anyone can apply for exchange, it's just a matter of making sure you time it to work with your subjects/progression. This may be slightly harder with a coop program where you need to do your placements/internships or summer school, but it's entirely...
Thanks for sharing that. Really helpful.
As for whether salary includes superannuation - usually it doesn't; however some organisations quote "Total remuneration" or "Total package" numbers which includes superannuation (ie. you need to deduct the superannuation piece to work out actual gross...
I hoarded and now I'm in my 30's and my parents are asking me to bin it which requires me to travel to their house (not that close), sort through my old books from primary school to high school (including textbooks, merit cards, typed and handwritten essays, notes, etc) and work out what to keep...
Sounds like a sensible approach. At cadetship level, I don't think they're expecting a detailed explanation on audit theory but rather just an appreciation of what the point of the role is and what would be of importance in terms of character.
