    HSC 2015 MX2 Marathon (archive)

    Re: HSC 2015 4U Marathon i. a=kvx dv/dx =kx integrating gives: v=k/2(x^2 + d^2) v=dx/dt integrating gives: x=dtan((2dkt+pi)/4) as x->inf, (2dkt+pi)/4 -> pi/2. And rearranging gives required result ii. x=sqrt((U^2 -B^2)/e^-kt/B -1) +U^2), where B=d^2 -2U/k as t->inf...

    If you don't know the states...

    If I don't know the states of matter for a question should I write them or not (ie. do you lose marks for incorrect states if the marking for that question doesn't actually require states?)

    impressed current

    This is my understanding of it: So for the corrosion of an iron pipe for instance the following occurs: 2Fe(s) -> 2Fe2+(aq) + 4e- These electrons are forming iron hydroxides: O2 + 2H2O +4e- -> 4OH- Applying a voltage causes the water to lose electrons at the inert anode: 2H2O -> O2 + 4H+ +4e-...

    Need help for Eddy Currents Motors and Generators

    I could very well be wrong, but I would have thought: 1 - using right hand, thumb is direction of plate movement facing right, fingers are direction of field lines facing into page, therefore the current is moving upwards (palm) in the magnetic field and then in an anticlockwise direction (so...

    How do you do your past papers?

    I'm not sure what it is, I think I might have a tendency to dwell on questions I don't know. And I only just started doing past papers a few days ago. But I did the 2010 HSC exam the other day and I ran out of time but just kept going and I got out all of question 8 (except part a :p)

    Will this combination work subject wise?

    I think you can! At Melb uni you can have a maximum of six breadth subjects which you could fill with psychology tracks such as these: - https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/view/2012/%21065XX-BRDS%2B1124 - https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/view/2012/%21065XX-BRDS%2B1136

    HSC Economics vs Uni Economics

    Hi, Seeing as how economics majors at university don't require HSC economics as a prerequisite, I was wondering how long it would typically take for universities to cover the Yr11-12 content? A semester? A year?

    Volumes of Solids of Revolution by Shells Workings

    Hey so I was wondering if anyone could say whether or not I can do the working out that I do for volumes questions... Eg Q. Consider a shell of inner radius x, outer radius x + δx, and height y. In textbooks, I see them go: δV=pi( (x+δx)^2 -x^2)y and then by expanding and 'ignoring' the (δx)^2...

    Mod C Speech on Related Text (Representing People and Politics)

    I think you could probably discuss both (or just one of) how the composers represent political motivations and actions of governments through the use of textual devices (eg. how would the composer demonstrate that a government is acting for their own self-interest?) and also how composers...

    Federal Budget 2015

    The media is tending to convey that the budget has completely changed trajectory from last year, which wouldn't be aided by mentioning policies that have been retained from last year's budget.
