    Prelim to HSC success stories

    One of my students was ranked 100+ in preliminary physics at Baulko (Exact rank escapes me atm, but it was around 116?). He ended up equal second in Physics, ATAR of 99.80. I told him in the first or second lesson I had him that he could state rank. He nearly got there. The guy who he was...

    Easy acceleration of a rocket question help plz

    T = 5 \times 10^7 m = 2.5\times10^6(0.25) a = \frac{T-mg}{m} a = \frac{5 \times 10^7 - (2.5\times10^6(0.25) \times 9.8)}{2.5\times10^6(0.25)} a = 70.2

    Combining monomers question

    You are told that it is a condensation polymer (i.e., water (usually) is lost as a by-product) So, think about how you can join the monomers together and eliminate H2O in the process :)

    Physics Question help!!

    I think you ar misreading or misinterpreting the question. Moving towards the Earth but decelerating at 50m/s^2 is the same thing as moving away from the Earth and accelerating at 50m/s^2.

    Physics Question help!!

    You should be adding them, not subtracting. If it is moving towards Earth, but decelerating, then the acceleration is opposing the motion of the craft (and opposing acceleration due to gravity!). So, the 'relative acceleration' is 50 + 9.8 = 59.8, therefore weight = 59.8 x 90 = 5382N. It...

    pH question involving sig figures

    Number of sig figs in concentration of H+ = number of decimal places in pH I.e., 5.5x10^-3mol L^-1 of H+ would be pH = 2.26 This is a special case which is common to logarithms

    Physics Question - Motors and Generators Help

    Please see attached. It is from 2009 HSC. Note: they used nBil * d where d is distance from axle to coil in the field. No guarantee success one will be right btw, lol.

    Physics Question - Motors and Generators Help

    It actually does matter! This question wanted you to equate torque of ONE SIDE OF THE COIL ONLY!! It wanted to assume that the magnetic field lines had spread out. Notes from marking centre for that question Weaker responses demonstrated some misunderstandings regarding torque and force...

    2015 independent paper physics

    First one would definitely be C. It has nothing to do with eddy currents. Second one I am a bit iffy about. I would say that the HSC wants us to say 'A', but it doesn't really give a correct cause and effect. On the other hand, C gives a more correct cause and effect (and a more correct...
