Wat's the advantage to combine Commerce with Law?

I think you will find that the most desired career path for any combination with a law degree is a legal career path. The second degree is compulsory for undergrad law students at most universities.

Philosophy in the classroom - The teaching of thinking

This discussion isn't mostly about suicide but there is a link between suicide rates and intellectual inability to meet educational expectations. I don't have the time to bring out links to articles right now, but you should admit that there's some truth in my generalisations.

Philosophy in the classroom - The teaching of thinking

If there are more philosophical people there will probably also be more depression, suicide, brooding and relativism. Society ought to only have a limited number of people bearing the intellectual burden. I'm with lengy on this.

Do complete Lefties and Greenies get on your nerves?

I hate people who get frustrated by opinions they regard as "extreme". The fact that something is extreme doesn't make it automatically wrong, nor is a "moderate" view formed by compromise always correct.

Wat's the advantage to combine Commerce with Law?

Investment banking sounds full of s***. Do something that really benefits society instead.

No but seriously people have to be open-minded about fascism.

So, what would your policy stance be?

In my opinion a utopic state would be the one proposed in Brave New World - caste system, no individualism, maximum utility. That of course is unrealistic as humans are weaklings with no will to create such a world, just as we have no will to abandon governance and adopt pure libertarianism...

    Does God exist?

The length of the thread mainly indicates the importance of the subject matter.

    Global Human Overpopulation.

Well not really, since developing countries consume less resources per capita. Overpopulation per se is not the problem - it's the amount of resources the population consume.

    Changes to the Piracy Law

Introducing unrealistic piracy laws when the existing laws aren't enforced to a proper degree further damages the credibility of all piracy laws. What they should do instead is either reduce the severity of existing piracy laws or concentrate on enforcing them to turn them into real laws...

Petitions - can they change the world?

The adverse effects of protests arise solely due to the insult they inflict on the apathetic masses. That insult is the notion that people who care beyond the issues of interest rates and oil prices exist in the world, that there are people who believe in causes however futile and are willing to...

    Homosexuality in Australia

"second year" means university second year, not preliminary kindergarten. When you are the least learned person in the discussion, being only in Year 11, you ought to try and avoid the subject of your credentials rather than boast about them.

Petitions - can they change the world?

I think you only see it this way because: a: you don't agree with the political objectives of the protesters who are "idiots". b: you assume that your views are shared by that of the voting public.

    Homosexuality in Australia

If everybody were women, then humanity would cease to continue. Does that say something about women? The fact is that not everybody are women.

    Homosexuality in Australia

Are you saying: - that all humans are instinctively homosexual although most are able to overide those instincts? - that homosexuals are instinctively homosexual and hetereosexuals are instinctively heterosexual, but since homosexual behaviour is unacceptable it is incumbent on homosexuals...
