    UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2014

M10 or M50 don't usually pass through there (i.e. Eddy Avenue)... but sometimes they do, for some reason. And no they're not free, you have to pre-pay tickets. The only time buses are free are like for Open Days and stuff.

    UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2014

I like the atmosphere, personally. It's a pretty chill place. As an Arts student, I have to do one hour of lounging about on grass - it's a degree requierment - and the groundskeepers really keep the Quad Lawn in tip top shape which is gr8 for lying down and lounging about. UNSW is pro...

Last movie you watched? And what you thought of it?

Saw. I remember my friend raving about it waaaaaaay back in 2005. It was alright, not as gory as I thought it would be. Interesting movie.

    Too much figurative?

Yes, consider the following sentence: "The cotton like clouds floating in air amid a never-ending expanse of sky joining the lush, healthy green of the land, on which other expensive and lovely houses resided, together made a shape roughly similar to a conic section with an eccentricity less...

    confused about time table

Higher Physics is just like Higher Maths, you'll cover more content, and treat some topics at a deeper level. It's harder, but there is scaling involved - and if you like physics, I'd suggest taking that.

    confused about time table

No, you take 4 subjects (more specifically 24 units of credit) per semester. So you take four of those six. For instance, you can take the first four, and then your two "electives" you can take in Semester 2, or next year in Semester 1...

    What are you currently Reading?

Tristram Shandy, by Laurence Sterne. The lack of punctuation (from a modern viewpoint) that occurred in the 1760s makes this book interesting for me, in terms of having to intone certain parts of the sentence for it to make sense. Really makes you think about how intonation can create meaning...

How to get better results in uni?

Well, failing uni is a memory :p More seriously, passing is... like, pretty easy to do. You pretty much have to do no work, and know absolutely nothing to fail. And considering the ATAR some of the courses require, I think it's safe to assume most people who get into uni for a course are...

    UNSW 2014 Rollcall

It's accounting and finance, 2u is probably enough. Also, you'll find that Commerce is tough to get HDs in because the content is so homogenised and so many people are doing it that one stuff up can cost you severely. DNs you should be getting regularly though if you do the work.

    How does internal transfer work?

The WAM requirements in the IPT (internal program transfer) are guides and are the minimum required (usually). The higher you are from it, the higher your chances of securing a transfer. If the requirement is 75, and you're on a WAM of 75.01, then... you may or may not get the transfer, for...

    Education or Pharmacy

Remember you'll have to be able to predict what the job market will be in like 5 years once you graduate to make the best choice. I'd really recommend you do something you like, but pay some heed to job prospects. Remember there are jobs for it, you'll just have to be good enough to be able to...

    UNSW 2014 Rollcall

Re: UNSW 2014ers Rollcall All maths has purpose :p Anyway, if those are the majors you're looking at - I don't think they're that mathsy at all, you shouldn't worry too much about the mathsy content. If you're looking at Finance or something, that's... slightly more involved, of course.
