Well you can pick what second year maths courses you need. Unless there are some specified courses you must take - look at the Handbook for that.

If you take Extension classes, you'll find that you may get 'extra' classes. For example, when I was in Year 12 - Tuesday morning was English Extension 1 I believe, and Thursday mornings were Maths Extension 1. And then Tuesday afternoon was Maths Extension 2.

The stats component of MATH1231/1241 is like an add on section to fill in time. The only question I got related to probability and statistics in my final exam used a tree diagram. I kid you not. Year 7 probability tree diagrams in my Higher Maths 1B exam paper.
