volume of the solid of revolution around y axis

Looks like you're going to get more mixed answers in this thread. It can't be asked in the new syllabus, it was a part of the old Extension 2 syllabus. That being said, if you understand the visualisation of rotations well enough, it shouldn't be that hard to theoretically imagine how they can...

    Mathematics Extension 2 Predictions

Lol what. Where was the geometrically-derived inequality in that paper? For the cheap price of $5, you can get my predictions for this year's HSC.

    Raw marks question

Every essay/extended response section in a HSC exam is double-marked (Source)

How tf do you guys memorize every intricate qualitative part of this subject?

I felt the same way regarding all the little rules and tricks of information to remember in order to answer questions. You just have to look at lots of resources and do a lot of questions and you'll start to become very good at some common questions, and realise what information never shows up...

Does NESA print HSC in colour? and more

Yes they do print in colour for papers that need it, e.g. english paper 1 visual stimuli needs to be in colour.

    trial marks

Just fished out my old NSB 2021 trial practice paper from my drawer. I got 73 in that paper and then an external mark of 92 in the HSC... so do with that information whatever you will.

    hsc physics (pre 1995)

Well all you need to do is go to UNSW and find it and look at whatever you need. You said you'd give an arm and 3 legs to get it, time to put your money where your mouth is.

    question

There are two approaches. First you could think that either N is to the left of U or it isn't, and there is no condition that makes one possibility more likely so there are half as many ways as if there were no restrictions. Thus 6!/2 = 360 ways Or, visualise just N and U already being there...

Can there be perms and combs in ext 2 papers?

Ps and Cs are not in Ext. 2 under the new syllabus. The only slim possibilities I can imagine are using pigeonhole principle in a proof and understanding what a factorial is.

    economics MCQ

Global interest rate rises would attract investors to invest their money in countries outside Australia, causing an increase in demand for international currencies and so the AUD will comparatively depreciate. Debt-servicing ratio is a term representing the proportion of export revenue that...

    Trig identities question

Factorise the numerator as the difference of two squares and factorise the denominator by taking out cos(theta). A factor of cos theta + sin theta will divide out and the result should be obvious.

    Economics

I can give a bit of advice since I do an eco major at usyd. If you meant 'advance maths' as in the course 2u maths, then according to the uni thats the assumed knowledge. I'm not sure if they actually check that since when I enrolled in my econ class, it only came up with a message saying that...

    bruh

As if Cambridge doesn't copy the HSC lol. Lots of the difficult complex number, integration, mechanics etc. questions in the cambridge book are from past HSCs, mostly from the ends of the pre-2000 exams so students never notice. This is why the current cambridge book doesn't really have very...

Math1081 Course Review (Upcoming) [IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO STUDY CS]

Some suggestions; 1. Maybe we could add in advice about the teaching team for each subject. Like each contributor discusses about their lecturer/tutor (perhaps identifying them with their initials only to avoid privacy concerns). 2. You could make a point about whether or not the textbook is...

    Uni Course review

Will there be a verification to show that each contributor actually did those subjects? I'll be happy to participate, the only caveat is that USYD's exams finish June 17 and results release 5th of July so if you want to wait for us there will be a bit of delay.

can you lose a mark if a question asks two identify two things, and you identify three of which only two were correct, can you still get two marks?

My school had a policy where in a case like this they would only look at and give marks for the first two listed, ignoring whatever was the third one written down. So follow the question instructions.

Do any of your schools steal trial questions?

It happens everywhere all the time, teachers become too fed up making questions and see attractive questions in other papers for them to use. It's particularly a gold mine for math because they know students avoid papers from 2019 and before since they are old syllabus, but a lot of the...

    random integration question

They differ by a constant so they are both correct antiderivatives. To check without a graphing calculator, just differentiate and see if you get the original function.
