    Supp Texts - Imaginative

I used Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk (the novel, but the film is good too) and Stay by Mark Forster. Stay isn't a great film, but it's a fantastic text to use. Too many techniques to mention in an essay and you can draw multiple meanings from its plot and its ending.

I.J. Imagine by John Lennon. please tell me if its a horrible idea.

I suggest straying from Imagine, unless of course you can provide a very original and insightful analysis. If you're looking for a song that has probably never been used in an HSC essay, try The Wanderer by U2. I used it in an assessment early last year and got full marks. Lyrics: I went out...

what stimulus text to use for imaginative?

I used Margaret Atwood's Journey to the Interior. It fit perfectly with my Coleridge poems and my stimulus texts. My primary thesis statement was concerned with journeying throughout one's own mind, which is exactly what Atwood does. The fact that I ended up doing three poems didn't seem too...

    Coleridge Poems

Doing one conversational (TLTBMB or FAM) and one mystical/mythical (TROTAM or KK) is a very good idea. It gives you a much broader range of ideas and techniques to work with and helps ensure that your essay doesn't become too bogged down in the speculative or the metaphysical. If your thesis is...

    M*A*S*H...anyone?

    Oh, that is so fun.

    Doctor Who / The Chaser

Can't stand Dr. Who, but I love Chaser's War on Everything.

    HSC - what next?!

Or you could go the opposite way and sit on your arse and watch DVDs for a few weeks I'm working my way through M*A*S*H, Seinfeld, Arrested Development (again) and Scrubs (again). I haven't been to a gym in my life, which I really should now that the soccer season's over. But I've also been...

My formal shoes hurt my feet

The only times I've ever worn heels have been at my formals, so my feet curl over and die from shock every time. That said, there was very little dancing out our formal this year, which made for an extremely boring night, but my feet thanked me. They're my only pair of heels as well and I've...

Oh My God Stop Waxing and Shaving Now!

I love my epilator. It doesn't hurt as much as waxing (works a lot better too) and lasts way longer than shaving.

The chick u like has a bf

I agree. And on the asking a girl out when she already has a boyfriend... For starters, if she likes you, then she should break up with her boyfriend. Then both of you should hold back for a while so as to let the break-up atmosphere subside (particularly if you're friends with the...

    High School Musical The Movie

WORST. MOVIE. EVER. I saw it on TV during the holidays on the insistance of my friend. She saw some Music/TV review that praised it as 'the new Grease'. So not.

Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Media Arts & Production) What do you think?

What were the UAI cutoffs for the last couple of years for this course? Also, say you missed out on the course by a few UAI points, does anyone know of the best course to try and transfer from etc?

    Contaminant Detection

I did look, thank you very much. While it's excellent information, what I'm looking for isn't in there.

    Contaminant Detection

Gather information on chemical tests available to determine levels and types of contaminants. Any help?

    She's The Man?

Well, I really quite liked it. For a teen chick flick, it really made me laugh a lot. And it made my mum laugh which is really rare. It actually kept her awake, which is still odd! Anyway, I thought it was good. The appropriation of Twelfth Night was quite clever as well, including the names...

Any one want to medicine at uni?

There's a good chance you'll fail your first years though. A lot of the course essentially requires Year 11-12 Chemistry and Physics knowledge. Most of HSC Biology is repeated. I want to apply for the course (at Newy, Syd or UNSW). Does anyone know when and where you get admission forms etc...

    Aeon Flux

Absolutely awful. I went to see it with some friends; the girls and I sat there and commented on how uncomfortable it would be to go to bed in that outfit and run around in those heels, the guys fell asleep between the close-up shots of her climbing ladders.

    V for Vendetta

I quite liked it. Natalie Portman never really does it for me, her acting never seems to stick in my mind as fantastic. Hugo Weaving however, I really enjoy watching. I'd read an article a couple of nights before, in the paper, about him and how he was the V character. I completely forgot I'd...
