    Biology Olympiad

12 is C because in mRNA Adenine always bonds with Uracil, instead of Thymine. However if there was a Thymine in the DNA nucleotide then it will still bond with Adenine, Cytosine and Guanine are self explanitory. 16: is B If the father has blood group A and if there is a child with Group AB...

    Biology Olympiad

Well, our head Science teacher says, we'd be lucky to get 40% of the questions given, and that would be a great result, so I'm assuming a score of 70% or higher would get you a prize, or callback or whatever. It depends on the other students taking this exam. To get a HD for UNSW Maths comp...

Future Plans: What ATAR/course/job are you aiming for?

Re: Who else is aiming high for next year? Well I have to aim high to get a scholarship into medicine and/or law, think 99.5 minimum and to get that I'd have to be Top 7 within my school, which with my grades now is near impossible. I'm aiming for 100 but unfortunately I know its...

    Biology Olympiad

We're starting H.S.C Bio next week, even though for the past three weeks, we've been doing nothing but Moodle Assignments, which no one ever does anyway, and haven't really covered anything past the Archaea topic in "Life on Earth." How are we coming Top 5 in the state for Bio again? That's...

    Biology Olympiad

I entered, but all of Year 11 Biology in my school has an excursion to the Australian Museum on the same day, so I don't know exactly what time/date the group of 4 would be doing it.

    Holidays before year 12?

Excel Standard/Advanced (2009-2010) is out, but I wouldn't recommend buying it. I feel it's safer to buy guides for the texts you're doing, because Excel will only give you a general outline of the AOS and Modules which would be taught in class anyway.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia better than America

American Version is better because it has NIGEL LYTHGOE, who thinks he knows all about good dancing, when he isn't a dancer himself, and it is hilarious to watch his baseless comments. As for the talent, well the American Version is better, but they actually have many world renown...

    Holidays before year 12?

Well, I'll be studying for 2 Unit H.S.C and also do the 3 unit prelim course for Maths, for a start. We're going to start H.S.C Biology Module 1, by the end of next week. So I may read ahead. I'll probably read the first Module of my textbooks for Chem and Physics. As for English AOS, I...

Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides for Preliminary HSC?

Re: Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides? I didn't know there were K.I.S.S notes for Chem... Granted, that the end questions are very good for revision and such (but the answers are lacking somewhat) The bad thing is they really distract you from the theory, because they are trying to appeal...

Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides for Preliminary HSC?

Re: Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides? Our school, gets notes from Keep it Simple Science (Biology) and Worksheets for HSC 2003 (Chemistry/Physics) from G.R. Marsden, as a replacement for textbooks. K.I.S.S is terrible all around, while the theory for the Worksheets is rubbish, but does have...

Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides for Preliminary HSC?

Re: Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides? Excel is only good for a scaffold and a last minute revision guide to get your basics down. It still beats thosehorrible "two dollar notes" we get at school. While Jacaranda is a great series of textbooks, I think that Longman (The New 2008 Addition...

    Calculus Queries

If you want to get technical, then that is wrong because you can't say f'(x) = dy/dx even though they represent the same thing (according to my teacher, whom deducted half a mark because I did the same thing) If you want to be safe then set your working out as follows. y = 2x^3 + x^2 + 3x +...

    2008 Preliminary Roll Call

Who are you? Your Profile says you go to SBHS, and you do three sciences, which only a handful of kids do in our year. If you are the guy I think you are, then screw you for owning me in English both this year and DUXing it last year!

    2008 Maths Competition

Re: Maths Competition Middle term was 14 root 2 (I think), completing the square would give you 98 as the constant term, I don't remember what the last term was, but for that equation I got 49 and since it was a root, I came up with 7.

    2008 Maths Competition

Re: Maths Competition If anyone still remembers or cares (probably not), the way to work the last question (30) is this. 1. Complete the squares of the first and last equations and from this find the minimum value from A and B respectively (7 and 5 respectively) 2. Substitute these values...

    chem prelim

Re: chem prelim again The electrostatic bonds/forces between the calcium cation and the carbonate anion are too strong to be broken by the intermolecular forces from water molecules. The weaker diapoles from the atoms within the water molecule cannot attract their respective opposite charges...

    Yr 11 performance

I remember that, I beat you by one mark and came 20th (61 rank gap!), talk about dodgy ranks. English Ext was pretty dodgy as well, 1 mark was like 20 ranks.
