First question: A, B, C are all physical changes (less energy needed), D is a chemical change (decomposing H2O into H2 and O2 -- more energy required for this) Second Question: Comes back to sub shells. Phosphorus has 5 valence electrons, 2 in the 3s sub shell and 3 in the 3p sub shell. It...

    Gravitational potential energy (GPE)

Alternatively in the last step above, could just do from 1.2x10^7 to 5.6x10^7, then no need to subtract

DW mate. In all honesty, it's impossible to get through all 4 topics in Year 11 Phys/Chem and do it well. Most of the time I miss out on at least 3/4 of cosmic engine with my Year 11s, but I do ensure that those couple of things I mentioned are covered well :)

Kind of.. With concept maps you want to link the boxes with words, not just arrows.

Can I still get a band 5 in Chem? (post trails)

Running regression analysis on HSC Chemistry for the last 3 years -- you need 62-65 raw to achieve an exam mark of 80 in the last 3 years. So, take that as you will, you need to pick up a couple of marks from now until the HSC (plenty of time!) but keep in mind that HSC Chemistry is really...

I haven't even started advertising for preliminary chemistry + physics for 2017, but my preliminary physics class is nearly full (pending a couple of confirmations) and my preliminary chemistry class is half full. The preliminary classes will be run from Parramatta on Thursday evenings.

That's more of a mindmap than a concept map, concept maps include key terms connecting key ideas --> really useful for 'explain' type questions and above (where you need to show relationships (and perhaps implications of relationships) KISS booklets are bare bones -- as with any source of...

    HSC Physics Marathon 2016

Both AC and DC generators produce AC in the coil! Think about it, 2 identical coils, rotating at identical speeds in an identical magnetic field -- should produce identical EMF (AND THEY DO!) AC gets changed into DC via the split ring commutator as it moves from the coil into the external circuit

What do you guys do during the 5min reading time?

Should use your finger nail to mark any MC answers you know straight off the bat (graphs of inverse functions etc), saves a little bit of time.

    Energy Conversions calculations question

Nah, Exam Choice are usually pretty straight forward. They have the odd good question here and there, but most are pretty standard.

    Energy Conversions calculations question

I just had a look through my papers as I thought i recognised the font. It's from the 2013 Exam Choice Paper, the answer is D in the marking criteria. /high5sintegrand lol

    Energy Conversions calculations question

How have they explained the answer as being B? It's an impossible answer! Change in Ep is only mgh = 0.1x9.8x1 = 0.98J. Can't get 3.7J transformed into other types of energy if there is only 0.98J to play around with in the beginning, it violates LOCOE! Answer is definitely D.

    Energy Conversions calculations question

I haven't done the calculations, the approach should be as follows: Find the loss of Ep (just use mgh) Find the gain in Ek (use 1/2mv^2) Loss of Ep - Gain in Ek = energy loss (or other forms of energy)

You may be thinking of using Vy = Uy + ayt, solve for t when Vy=0 then double it. But, this is essentially what integrand has done -- most students should understand both ways.

Sure. HSC Chemistry 2013 Q23(a) assessed outcomes from 2 x Year 12 topics alongside 2 x Year 11 topics. Tbh, I think that learning by dot point works fine for most students. It helps the lesser-able students structure their ideas and the higher achieving students can usually link dot point...
