    SRC Elections 2006

I don't like party politics, but supporting Voice is hardly a compromise. Like me, the candidates on Voice tickets are students of a lot of different political persuasions (NOT JUST LIBERALS) who believe that the SRC should represent students as students - and not students as political pawns...

Undergraduate Representative to the University Senate 2006

Re: Undergraduate Representative to the University Senate Wenny is a candidate for the Socialist/Green bloc. She's an environmentalist, and of her entire bloc I'd say she's the only rational one. Certainly, she's one of two I think most people could actually get along with, and I do respect her...

Conservatoriums - GENERAL: Entry, atmosphere, auditions etc.

That's correct, whether you're completing Music Studies or Music (Composition), entry into the Composition major is competitive with approximately 20 places next year for quite a few more applicants. If you cannot enter the Composition major straight away, there are a number of alternatives...

The figure of $32000 came from SRC working group discussions of which I was a part, produced by President Wood himself, and supported by SRC staff. I am concerned about the high operating costs of the SRC, which could quite easily be streamlined with good economic management.

Undergraduate Representative to the University Senate 2006

Re: Undergrad rep on the Senate I'm 21, I'm hardly a "boy". Also, I believe I would be a fantastic Undergrad Rep to the Senate. Since somebody has actually bothered to start a thread dedicated to this, the following is my supporting statement.

USyd Students - the VSU Era - What will you do?

There's a difference between a government of people in a nation, and a university SRC full of povo students. In the first instance, it is often justified to charge a tax for the benefit of the greater good. In the second, it is not because the benefit of the greater good is not found in...

$1.1 million for the SRC, and that's just the SRC. On top of that, in-kind services like phone (a bill of $32000 in 2005) and electricity. The Union will probably receive extensive funding in its own right. If I've heard correctly, the Clubs and Societies program has Already received funding...

    'Quiet' Philosophy Tutes

I tend to find that my lecturers either love me, or hate me. Love me, because I always have something insightful to say, or hate me, because my insightful comments may come into conflict with their own ideologies.

USyd Students - the VSU Era - What will you do?

The SRC will be receiving full funding from the university next year (taking money originally intended for reducing class sizes and improving the quality of our education). In other words, we have no choice about supporting the SRC - we can't even conscientiously object.

VSU and you - real choice or the end of campus life?

As I see it, VSU forces the Unions and the Universities to adopt a model similar to that in shopping centres. We don't pay for the privilege to use a shopping centre - there are plenty of free things that are available at Westfields or Centro or Stockland etc. Yes, it might be more difficult...

    Plastic Student Cards

The University should hold a competition for designs for a new generation of student cards, perhaps to commemorate the Building for the Future/Campus 2010+ initiative.

    Composition portfolios for Music 2

At my school, we were expected to keep a record of all our drafts (with dates and stuff on them), which comprised our "diaries". The use of diaries are to give the internal marker a general idea of your compositional approach, and to give the Board evidence that the work is truly original.

    Audio Technology.

I am well and truly of the belief that before completing a specialist audio course, one should complete a proper music degree.

    prelims composition!! any idea?

Prelim composition is only marked by your school music teachers, not the Board. Ask your teacher.
