    The Woolworths Thread

To me, it sounds closest to my store's Nontrade department, which basically consists of ticketing and office stuff. Woolies do like to chuck people in the deep end a lot, a few of my managers can vouch for that (luckily, they saved it from happening to me haha) but hopefully you'll pick it up...

Shaweet, lucky as. :) I've been going thru this thread, reading pretty much everything lately and so far I'm up to page 309. So interesting, bringing back memories of the way things used to be.

So who's looking forward to xmas? I'm getting trained in the cash office then, should be good (something new). We get told not to be allowed to park in the car park or anything during xmas, but its only slightly busier than usual... cause we're in a rural area, there's no toy shops or anything...

Is there a certain document or anything on storenet that plainly says "Under 18s are not permitted to supervise due to lack of maturity" or something? I would like to see this in solid form, instead of just being told, because from experience a lot of staff members say things they aren't always...

To be honest, I sort of wish QLD would implement something like this. I hate serving smokes! I'm worried that I'm going to sell it to someone under age, even though I know to ask for ID and all, but still it just worries me a lot... Then again, it wouldn't be at all practical, as we would never...

The first one doesn't apply to me because Queensland law prohibits liquor from being sold in a supermarket, so yeah - obviously no store in Queensland can have a liquor deparment. Also, the law does allow under 18s to serve on smokeshop, and on normal registers, so this is all good. Second bit...

Without meaning to be rude, might I ask which document this policy is in, or where it was written? Cause my store has had 3 or 4 supervisors under 18 since we opened, and have had a number of relief bosses who have never said anything about it.

Is the store manager a last-resort sort of person to call for serving, and are they able to serve on a big register? Or is the service supervisor supposed to open on the big register, and then the store manager takes over as supervisor (if it gets extremely busy)? Our store manager is good like...

Haha true, thankfully we dont have self-serve yet. We're down to get it in "the next 5 years or so" though, but i probs wont be there (well at that store anyway) then. I turned my back the other day for a second, and pretty much everyone in the store decided to go to the checkout. Of course, it...

I didn't ask, my 2ic asked me if I wanted to, and I said that I'd give it a go. Way it happened: she said something about "Service 30 line 1" over the PA, i said to her, "hmm thats a phone call isnt it? Still not sure what all these codes mean haha." and she said "you know, you should be...

Thanks for the tips :) I started in November 2008 and have been a cashier ever since, but was only asked to be supervisor around eastertime this year, and did my first shift for it in July. What about you?

Yeah that is true... but still :) I was thinking... how awesome of a store would this be - all the people from this thread just working in the one shop. It'd, mostly, be pretty cruisy, from my impressions of everybod's written stuff.

Haha true... shit, I really just did realize how gay that is talking about cisco phones. What is wrong with me? Haha... And damn I'm so glad I'm in a country community area, where everyone is friendly and knows each other. Worst thing I've ever had is dispute with cigarettes being eligable for...

I totally remember reading that you wanted to drop school to do supervising :P how long ago did u finish at woolies and why? @_be: Just tell it how it is. You did nothing wrong. Tell them that, no, nobody called you through the week and that you had asked for it off ages ago. I remember one...
