Some are born gay, some achieve gayness, and some have gayness thrust upon them

Well, too bad. Science and medicine were never the rosiest of subjects.

    My Sister's Keeper

Out of curiosity for those of us who haven't read the book, can someone post its ending in spoiler tags?

Afghan women: be sexually obedient to your husbands or starve

Go and be a woman in an Islamic country, and then come back to me and say that.

Afghan women: be sexually obedient to your husbands or starve

These aren't the actions of the Taliban. They're the actions of the Afghanistani government.

Afghan women: be sexually obedient to your husbands or starve

Okay, great, Islam was better than the west in terms of women's rights (for the sake of argument) centuries ago. We have now leapfrogged it, so when is it going to catch up?

Some are born gay, some achieve gayness, and some have gayness thrust upon them

    Climate Change

You want me to cite chapter and verse (or in this case, paper and journal)? Also, clearly you don't understand what I mean when I refer to the IPCC is in this context. I would not invoke the IPCC as a "scientific authority", but rather in its capacity as a framework, or a collection of...

Some are born gay, some achieve gayness, and some have gayness thrust upon them

It would, however, invalidate the flawed idea that homosexuality is a personal choice. Clearly, it isn't.

Some are born gay, some achieve gayness, and some have gayness thrust upon them

I suppose you could say that. It's still a hypothesis, but it's certainly a viable one, and it makes sense.

    Climate Change

Your point was that "show me some science you have done proving anthropogenic climate change", (which is the only way I'd be able to do it "without appealing to any scientific/academic consensus/reports") which obviously I can't do as I am not a climate scientist. However, that does not preclude...
