Highly intelligent animals in captivity - yes/no?

Again, I'm not talking about common pets (cats, dogs, horses, even most birds) - just the generally highly intelligent animals that are placed in captivity. The only one that could really qualify for "pet" status is the octopus and parrots, actually, as far as I can tell. Happiness is also...

Highly intelligent animals in captivity - yes/no?

Oh yes, science can certainly be performed in situ (in the wild), but certain things - for instance, cognitive and behaviour trials - certainly require a degree of control (i.e. captivity) for the research to be applicable. I was more talking for recreational purposes (i.e. zoos, pets, etc.)

What should we do about climate change?

Uh, no. What do you think those rock walls sit on? Eroding beach. The dune systems protect the land behind it. Ideally, the houses built on the beach (such as in Narrabeen) should be removed to allow the dune system to recover and protect the other houses further back.

What should we do about climate change?

What should we do about climate change?

You realise that the coastal zone extends up to 200m inland from the nominal coast? And that rock walls interfere with coastal progradational processes, removing beach instead of building it?

What does feminism mean to you?

I'm a liberal feminist. Reverse-feminism, in which women are regarded as more important than men, inhereantly disgusting, and I find affirmitive action policies inherently sexist.
