how'd you guys go for the impromptu design today? my group was ok, about half got into the project and kept suggesting ideas and fiddled around with the materials while the other half were a bit more detached. one guy just sat there for the whole hour, just chewed gum and didnt say anything...

just write anything. then you can change it when you have something solid and just tell your teacher. "oh I was thinking that this [new and better idea] is more interesting that what i did in my proposal"

Re: Do a lot of people drop out from their tutorials and courses in the first few wee yo bro, relax. send an email or go and talk to your lecturer in person and they will fix it up. and maybe use this thread next time...

you can also go and see someone about it tomorrow (depending on what the subject is) and have them manually place you into a class i believe

you should be fine IMO, scaling for senior science is probably the worst scaling subject but rest are ok. if you do well and get in the mid to high band 5 range with all your subjects you should be able to get your high 80's UAI. and also note to do well in english advanced as that subject is...

same here. ive got a math1131 tute tomorrow while my first lecture is on wednesday. there was a math1131 lecture monday morning though, so perhaps some students can get some sort of benefit from the tutorial but next week it should sort itself out.

i was outside watching, got to lie down on my bag :D. but at about 2:30 this one guy sat down with everyone else, pulled out his laptop and started playing a FPS (shadowrun?). he also has earphones so he wasnt listening to the lecture. like wtf?

all you need to know is that a lot of other people in your lectures and tutorials are in your exact position. just sit next to someone in a lecture, say "hi, my name is..." and introduce yourself. then perhaps ask them what degree they are doing. it happened to me twice today

it was my first day of classes. you have to give me time to develop my "on drugs" detector. however he did seem to be a bit too happy in a maths lecture...

COMP1917 was pretty boring just introductory stuff. was kind of funny though as one person in the front row asked about 15 questions throughout the entire lecture. we did manage to say "hello world" by the end of it though, which i guess is all you really need to know how to do after your first...

whats up with this rule? donts: id refrain from drinking while using the laptop. if you spill it you are screwed. and even if the keyboard is spill resistant, you might end up with a key that doesnt work or a section of the keyboard that is just plain sticky.

yea probably. if you push it up to around the 87-89 range you can push for 94-95ish, which isnt that hard
