    Re: HSC 2014 4U Marathon - Advanced Level I'm just a little confused, by using the sine rule with alpha as angle ADP shouldn't we get sin(theta) = xsin(alpha)/2? unless that's meant to be angle DAP?

    last year i got about 56-57 and i got 47/50. the year before it was 51 from memory. lol it's definitely not 56+

    Well it passes through the points (0,6) and (2,0). Sub them in and solve for V (theta is 0 because horizontal projection).

    I wouldn't call it spoon feeding, it's just giving a solution - because that's exactly what I'm looking for when I post a question on here.

    When solving projectile motion question

    I usually substitute it in at the start, but if the question says "...The angle of elevation now changes..." or "...The starting velocity now changes..." in a later part, you'd be better off to have done it with V & alpha. I never do it that way simply because i feel like it's just a memorized...

    I am currently first by a lot, there is very little chance that i won't be by the end of trials. I'm more concerned with the externals, but yeah i guess i hadn't thought about how much it would vary from year to year. I'll just make 96 my minimum goal then carrotsticks :P

    It's something to do with the abs value that we impose when we integrate. If you leave it as: C= \frac{ln(-5)}{2} Then you get the same solution as the textbook.
