    ANU/Canberra 2011 Rollcall

QFT. Last year I went to breakfast during winter at 8:30am and it was -3 outside. There ought to be laws against providing housing with no heating in the ACT...

What's the termination conditions on UL contracts? Do they let you terminate if you can find them a new resident or pay a fee?

    Student Number

Not sure if it was different in previous years but last year, they made you type it in yourself on the Chifley Library computers after they activated your account. Oh, and ANU prints the dodgiest student IDs ever. :/

2nd degree and running out of hecs and 7 years SLE

As far as I know the uni isn't obliged to give you a DFEE place, so you'd need to check with them. Unis are now unable to give DFEE places to commencing undergraduates, but I'm not sure about continuing students. (You could also take leave until you're 27 and get an extra 1 SLE...)

UAC Offers 2011 - Downloadable [now with the Early February Round!]

Re: UAC Offers 2011 - Downloadable It's the university, with the constraint that DEEWR will only fund a certain number of CSPs. Could be deliberate, could be low demand, or could be a funding constraint. Who knows?

    ANU Accommodation

That's true, SA3 will cover a lot - still going to take a while to sort out though. Also UL is in some ways worse than living off-campus...

    Accepting/Enrolling

Go ahead and enrol ASAP - there's no harm in enrolling and it doesn't affect consideration for later rounds. Acceptance should be enough to guarantee your place, but you should be enrolling now.

    ANU Accommodation

I can tell you almost with certainty that there won't be if it's anything like last year.

    ANU Accommodation

Yes, it takes forever to find places to rent in Canberra. I know people who have been searching since October and only just found a place. Find people to stay with and keep searching, but it's unlikely you'll find a place before uni starts.

    Having second thoughts.

I'd say Science/Law if only because there are too many Arts/Law students in the world. :P (A certain Robert French did Science/Law, and look where he is now :P )

    not eligible for HECS-HELP?

Basically. The government loans you the money and you pay it back through the tax system after you get a reasonably well paying job.

Whats the point of B Sc in games development (new course)

The degree isn't totally useless if you don't end up in the games industry; you could also do some more general IT or artistic work. It seems there is demand for this sort of thing since there are quite a few universities offering Games Dev degrees now and various colleges (e.g. AIE, Qantm)...

    not eligible for HECS-HELP?

It's completely automatic if you're an Australian citizen/permanent humanitarian visa holder who has a CSP. You don't need to be notified. Depends on the course. If you're doing maths/stats/science/education/nursing, $4355 per year. If you're doing law/dentistry/medicine/vet...

    ANU/Canberra 2011 Rollcall

I know it's worrying, but it's normal - there isn't an email to confirm acceptance of offer, and last year people were getting accommodation offers literally a few days before O-Week.

How many max straight hours [no breaks] do you have at uni?

Okay, now I've done up my timetable - haven't enrolled in any labs or tutes yet, but right now the longest block I have is... 1 hour. :P

How hard is it to financially survive away from home for a full-time student?

Was looking something else up on the Centrelink site and came across the page describing what you have to do to be considered 'away from home'. "If you are a full-time tertiary student who needs to live away from home to study, you may be eligible for the higher rate if: * it takes more...
