So how many days do you spend in uni per week?

I live on campus, so I spend 7 days a week at uni. :p As for days with classes, this semester was 4, next semester is unknown but probably 4 as well.

Hi, everybody. I'm new to ANU

Well... if you haven't been told that your place is absolutely certain, then just be prepared in case you don't get in. Hope to see you here next semester!

Hi, everybody. I'm new to ANU

I'm at Ursula Hall (aka Ursies) myself. Bruce and Ursies are the best colleges in terms of academic performance, so I'm sure there'll be plenty of people who can help you with any issues. Have you actually received your offer for Bruce yet? I wasn't aware that Semester 2 offers have been sent out.

    Atar?

I'd say you need to improve a bit if you want to get 70. Certainly you need to get into the top half of your courses. At the moment I'd guess you'd be looking at somewhere in the 50s or 60s.

Hi, everybody. I'm new to ANU

I'm fairly sure that nowhere in the ANU uses norm-referencing, but then again each faculty and lecturer can decide their own rules so it could happen in some courses.

Hi, everybody. I'm new to ANU

Welcome to ANU :) As Joshua said don't worry too much about any of this - there's support services available here that can help you with whatever problems you're having. You will need to have reasonable English skills, but of course if ANU has offered you a place you'll have already passed the...

One thing that makes me feel bad about Australian Universities

It's sort of a good thing living in a regional area with no decent universities - that way you're forced to move, and if you're going to move to Sydney then you may as well move to Canberra or Melbourne if there's better uni options.

how important is the combination of % and marks?

That makes sense then, although at least in the case of a single-person class it seems slightly unfair.

how important is the combination of % and marks?

I've heard there's some sort of special policy for classes with 1-2 people - of course there's no official source for that.

One thing that makes me feel bad about Australian Universities

I love being able to write "AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY ACT 0200" on the back of my letters now. :D

    2010 Semester 1 Chatter Thread

So there was the totally smashed up car in Union Court today with police around it. It somehow didn't hit me that it was one of those community outreach activities; instead I was thinking how the heck could anyone have crashed like that in Union Court...

One thing that makes me feel bad about Australian Universities

Which doesn't always mean they're good teachers - but of course you get bad teaching in every educational institution, no matter how research-intensive.

    Development Studies/International Relations

Master of Arts (IR)? I think it'd be more comparable with Bachelor of Arts (International Relations).

    ITT: FML I hate uni.

Last MATH1115 lecture ever, and it was so boring I resorted to getting out my phone and using the WAP version of Facebook.

One thing that makes me feel bad about Australian Universities

Hey, we only bring it out because hardly anyone outside Canberra seems to even acknowledge ANU's existence :p

    Subject Selection Help

Scaling-wise, none of those three subjects are particularly great. If it has to be out of those three just do what you're most interested in - scaling won't be much of an issue if you do well enough.

    Know all Textbook = 90+?

I doubt many students could easily understand, say, MX2 if they're going just off textbooks.
