How is $80+/hr a justified rate?!?! Tell me your thoughts + why

Great point, I agree with this. For most students, knowing enough is good enough. Past that point, you're not going to get a whole lot of extra marks in an exam per extra hour of study you do. Likewise, you won't get significant enough difference between a $60/hr and $80/hr+ tutor.

    Cheating trials.

I totally understand where he's coming from. Also understand that people generally reach out to cheat as the very last resort. So, he's probably very, very stressed. If you want to help him out, send him a few good resources. If you don't want to help him out, send him a few good resources...

Where can I make a study timetable?

Keep it simple. Just open up google calendar. Set 1 hour per subject for each. And, follow it. The ultimate schedule in the world is just the one you can carry out day in and day out.

    prelim help

Yep, you won't retain everything from someone else's notes. However, writing your own notes by summarising someone else's is efficient af. They've already summarised the textbook for you. You just need to further summarise their notes. In relation to studying for the test: Make your own...

How is $80+/hr a justified rate?!?! Tell me your thoughts + why

I see where you're coming from, $80/hr is expensive without a doubt. (For context, I don't charge this. I'm just offering perspectives.) I've worked for quite a few places, alongside a handful of clients, as well as on my own side business. Over time, I think I've come to see pricing as a...

You all got this. I believe in all of you. Pick your two hours that you'll be studying. You can do whatever outside of these hours. However, you WILL get these two hours done everyday. Without exception. Non-negotiable. Post the hours below and we'll keep each other accountable. :chainsaw2:

Can you get a 99.95 ATAR without tutoring? If so, what's the best approach to doing so?

TL;DR - yes. Though, here's my advice: Really capitalise on your teacher. Do mock exams and get them to mark it. Take notes during class. Write an even more concise set of notes from them afterwards. Buy the good textbooks. Or borrow them from the library. Ask grads from your school if it's...

How is $80+/hr a justified rate?!?! Tell me your thoughts + why

Thanks for the ted talk, what an honour to be here. Eh, price is really arbitrary. Some tutors charge $80+ because they can, whilst other charge $80+ because of their track record in producing excellent students. So, it is up to you to do your own due diligence in picking a tutor that you work...

    Economics vs Business studies

I see the merits of both. From what I've seen, business studies does cover a lot of uni related stuff, but briefly and with brevity. It's an introductory primer at most. It is very rote-learnt subject. The students who do well write well and memorise well. Economics, on the hand, goes into...

    Plagiarism?

Yep, like Jimmy said, it probably wouldn't count as plagiarism. Mind you, and not that I condone it, getting caught for plagiarising is probably unlikely. They'd have to type out your essay, word for word, and then see if the computer detects any plagiarism.

    Advice for Year 12?

Just study a bit everyday. Online flashcard systems (ie Leitner System) are extremely useful. The (made up) rule of thumb is: 1 hour everyday is equivalent to 10 hours later on. Maths - do past papers, or practice questions. Economics - prepare cheatsheets for each important concept. English -...
