    Changing for 2nd round

Your application will automatically be considered for the Early February and Final Rounds, as you were not offered your 1st preference in the Main round. If you want to make sure Criminology gets considered as your highest preference for the later rounds, all you have to do is login and change it.

What are the consequences of enroling later rather than earlier?

Not necessarily. At ANU, you can't do first-year enrolments online - they have set down dates for people to turn up and enrol on campus.

Yes - Windows programs depend on the Windows system to do lots of essential stuff hence they can't run unmodified on Linux (or a Mac for that matter). The ways to get around that problem are: a) use Linux versions of the Windows applications if available, e.g. OpenOffice.org and Firefox, b) use...

    preference change

The only reason you won't be considered in the late rounds is if you receive an offer for your 1st preference in the early and main rounds. Even then, if you change your preferences before the February preference date you'll be considered. In your case you were offered #2, so you'll definitely...

Firstly, hardcore gaming is a major issue :p But the primary issue is that a lot of people particularly older folk aren't terribly adept with computers in general and are fairly stuck in their ways with Windows or whatever they've used for the past decade. Linux isn't really more difficult...

http://www.whylinuxisbetter.net/ Why Software Should Not Have Owners - GNU Project - Free Software Foundation (FSF) I wouldn't say that at the present state Linux is usable for everyone - it's still got lots of rough edges - but every year it's becoming more and more mainstream and easier for...

I wouldn't describe it as a brand per se, but it is certainly the computer-related Linux. Not some obscure brand of European washing powder.

    Scared of being cyberbullied

Being an experienced member and having good reasons are a start - you can't just become a mod for self-defence. Realistically if he stays out of the Non-School forums and doesn't act like a complete idiot, it's fairly unlikely he'll experience any cyberbullying, and any one-off or random abuse...

The mod team does take reports very seriously. Sometimes our response can be delayed a bit, but every report does get looked at.

    Tax file number.

Banks and other organisations that receive TFNs are prohibited by privacy laws from giving them out to anyone, including yourself. However, phone up the ATO Individual info line, and they'll give you the number over the phone if you can satisfy some basic proof of identity questions.

    Scared of being cyberbullied

I'm not entirely sure that's the best approach... Show him the options for reporting posts and abusive messages - if there's any posts that are cyberbullying or otherwise overly nasty, us mods will happily deal with it.

    URGENT - Need help!

UAC does not charge additional fees for late round offers, however be careful about getting yourself into any contractual arrangements such as accommodation unless you understand the implications for a late round offer.
