By the time I whinged about it though I didn't actually do anything - I got SENT to pack by our SSM (who would prefer to stand around talking about the unusually high male to female ratio on service today than actually help his staff) - then I realised that everyone else in bakery had gone on...

On an unrelated note, I was disturbed today to find out that there is a store in our area that sell more packets of cigarettes than milk. I would like to think we are not that store.

Umm, I got sent to pack around 11am because they were so behind. But then we got busy so it would have only been about 10 minutes that I spent in there. I did markdowns around 4ish and everything looked empty - but that could be because sales were good. But only bad because the person who...

You don't need to point out the obvious. I've gone from being a shit as operator, to a good operator, to pretty good at tickets, to being somewhat supervision trained, to being kicked out of front end, to being a shit as supervisor, to right now - an okay supervisor and someone who is quite...

I don't know, doubt it. Just the fact that it had been there for 14 years was just a bit odd. It was decided that we could afford to IDT another bottle.

Someone told me that the limit was 13 or 14 or something? Because when I was added there was issues with us being over the limit and we had to get special approval from CMS, which took like a week or something. I actually had an argument with our groc 2IC about this today (well not...

I'm not going to comment on how backwards Perth is. And I never get that feeling, I'm ALWAYS on close shifts. I absolutely relish an 8-11 Friday shift that comes up once in blue moon, because then yes, they get absolutely hammered as soon as you leave without fail.

I'm going to console myself with the fact that a) 9 hours on sunday rates is nice, b) our SSM is manager tomorrow so its not like I have to do anything, c) slack sundays with my bestie <3, and d) its the last sunday that we're open until june.

9-7 tmoz, 9-5.30 sup and 5.30-7 cash office. I've just had two operators tell me (via facebook, how convenient) that they're not coming in. I've already replaced one of them, I'm not being short tomorrow (even though we won't be because there's two supervisors on ALL DAY AS SUPERVISORS tomorrow...

At the moment, our store is actually only empty on Sunday nights because of our massive bakery production. Only the supervisors that do close shifts have safe numbers - but thats still CSM/2IC/3IC plus three others. Basically as soon as you have to close without one of them (or one of the...

OMG YES. Someone today wanted $1200, I did $600 on one smokeshop till and $600 on the other, and then about 3 customers later someone wanted $500. WOOLWORTHS IS NOT A BANK.

See our office cashiers leave up to 2 hours before close. I know there are stores where there isn't anyone there after 10/11am! So the supervisors have to be able to take the draws up themselves. It used to be done by the DM, but now whoever is manager leaves as soon as the last customers are...

Such a routine thing now  But it adds stacks more time to close if you're by yourself. Besides, I thought that was a key part of phoenix?

All of our supervisors have safe combos. But we have to pack up the tills into safe at close. I am super pro now :)
