    Personal ATAR estimates?

96ish. Don't think I did too badly in english, but it's standard english so I was doomed either way.

How much memorisation is there in Acidic Environment?

Acidic probably involves the most calculations and the least memorization, but there is still quite a bit to memorize. Just remember that HSC sciences favour the students who are good at english, so there is always going to be a lot to memorize.

Rookie error mate. You use permanent marker.

    Atar Prediction!?

HSC is done man. He can't change anything. You'll get about 60-65.

    Year 11 subject choice questions

100% true. The HSC somehow makes physics favour the english kids instead of maths, and does absolutely nothing to prepare kids for university science/engineering. The fact that there are so many long response questions and very little calculations just proves how ridiculous the course is...

    Is Extension 2 worth it?

Doing 4U is definitely worth it. It's 4 units of your HSC that you will absolutely blitz. As said before, 50/100 raw equates to a 90 ATAR, but it takes a lot of work to get those 50 marks or higher.

    Are textbooks a necessity?

I never used textbooks except for 4-unit. Heck, I didn't even read some of my english texts.

atar estimate from preliminary report marks?

School marks are extremely unreliable for ATAR calculations, as some schools mark harshly, while others mark extremely easy. And if you don't like maths, have you considered dropping it? If you're not going to be motivated to study for it, it will be hard to get good results. For overall...

    final guesstimate

I'm guessing he put no effort into past HSC papers or exam technique. If your school doesn't mark to HSC standards, he would of walked out thinking he aced it when he would really get fucked over by the marking guidelines. Either that of he hit the wall and acted confident because he didn't want...

    A bit curious

They would STRONGLY recommend that you didn't take it, and I mean veeeery strongly, because you would be destined for a very low e1. My school strongly recommends that anyone that wasn't in 5.3 doesn't take advanced.

    ATAR estimate please

Your mark will be whatever you get in your exams, since you're unaffected by your cohort. Just chuck what you think you got in your exams into an atar calculator.

How to maintain a balance during preliminary years?

While HSC takes a lot of dedication, it doesn't take up your whole life. I still played rugby, and went to parties every Friday night, and then used Saturday to recover from Friday night.

    ATAR Estimate?

Not true. I go to a school ranked about 250, with an average cohort of about 100, and of that 100, generally 5 will get over 90, and another 10-15 will get over 80. Given that school ranks are based on band 6's, there isn't that much of a gap between a school ranked 250 and a school ranked 500...

    ATAR Estimate?

Going to a school ranked 500 doesn't guarantee an ATAR below 70, it just means that you won't get many band 6's, if any at all. OP is still quite well ranked in the majority of subjects so I would be very surprised if they got below 70.

Patel. I lived off Patel for complex haha.

    Atar estimate and help !!

Your ranks should save you. I'm thinking around 85.

    Atar Estimate Please

That and the fact you do Standard English. Standard aligns so poorly that with a cohort that size, you really needed to come first.

To get an atar of 80 what ranks would you need at a school ranked 100?

English: Top 7-8 Maths: Top 25 Business: Top 20 Economics: Top 20 Geography: Top 5 Financial Services: First. Just remember that you are competing against the 3U kids in 2U maths, so your cohort size will be 50. You don't get a separate rank from the 3U kids.
