    Marked unfairly?

This. You round to the least accurate measurement given. Say that you are given two values 1.0 and 3.500, and you need to find the average. Although the answer is 2.25, the least accurate measurement is 1 sig. fig, so the average is rounded up to 2.3.

    2013–14 Ashes Series

That's debatable haha. I don't see the point in putting an all rounder at no. 3 when as you said, there's plenty of young players that should be given a decent chance to be the number 3 for the next 10 years. The way they have treated players like Khawaja has been poor. I reckon they should give...

Someone please clarify how hard maths open book test is.

Why would you disadvantage yourself by doing that? While I agree it is a useless test, everyone else in his class will have every formula they need on a sheet of paper. If he has a mind blank in the test and can't remember a formula, he will lose marks and ranks when he could have had the answer...

    2013–14 Ashes Series

Eh. I think to be a pure batsman in the Australian team, you need to be able to score centuries. 3 centuries in 85 innings doesn't cut it for me.

    Studying during the term?

That's about 3 hours too much after school and 6 hours too much on the weekend. Seriously, years 9, 10 and to some extent year 11 mean jack shit. Just chill out before you start senior years.

    Studying during the term?

That's a week, but more for the later stages of the HSC when you have so much content to go over. I would say 40 hours a week is the average for anyone aiming for an ATAR of 95+.

    2013–14 Ashes Series

And Watson. Anyone else think it's a joke that he's in the team purely as a batsman?

    Studying during the term?

Notes shouldn't take you long at all. I find it ridiculous the amount of detail the notes posted in the resource section go into. I had notes for physics and chem, both of which were 40 pages hand written, whereas notes in the resource section often went over 150 pages typed. Three things wrong...

Hardest things they can test in complex numbers?

    You can get some pretty nasty looking ones that involve de Moivres and double angles. Patel has a lot of them in his book e.g. \text{Prove that} (1-cos\theta+2isin\theta)^{-1}=\frac{1-2icot\frac{\theta}{2}}{5+3cos\theta}

    Atar Estimate

Some schools have markers that haven't done HSC marking, hence their marking might not be up to HSC standard. Although business might not be very hard and aligns poorly, the free response questions do have the same strict marking criteria as all other HSC courses that might make you lose marks...

    Keep or Drop Ext.2?

If you don't like maths, then drop it. Never pick 4U because of the scaling. It takes so much time and effort that you should only do it if you love maths.

    Atar Estimate

Theoretically, but my teachers who have had 10+ years marking experience told me how it works, especially for longer response questions. They set very specific marking criteria and you need to meet all criteria to gain full marks. If you miss out on one thing from that criteria, you don't get...

    Forthcoming assesment task

This has no impact on the test difficulty at all. I go to a school ranked ~200, and I score better in the Ruse exams than in my schools papers. But this topic test should be much harder than HSC exam style questions. Complex and polynomials numbers are generally asked in generic ways in HSC...

    Atar Estimate

    83. I'm also guessing that you haven't accounted for the harsh marking schemes of the HSC. It's almost impossible for a kid ranked 3rd at a 400 school to raw between 94 and 99, and your other estimates look a lot higher than your ranks indicate.
