    ATAR Estimate (for older sister)

It is quite likely that she will get it given her ranks at a top 5 school, but I'm always hesitant to say 99.95 because she has to nail her exams as well, and it's very easy to make silly mistakes in the HSC. I would go as far to say her ranks indicate 99.95, but it all completely depends on how...

what to do during free periods.

Lol. Technically our school did the same thing, but the only the principal ever enforced it. We had some pretty rare times chilling with teachers while getting a maccas feed haha.

How do you not burn out?

This. You can still get really good HSC marks without dedicating your life to it. If you have a good social life, your school life might not seem so daunting and you will be motivated to study more. You're in year 12, which means people will be turning 18, which means there will be lots of 18th...

what to do during free periods.

This is generally done on maccas runs.

    Quick Projectile Question?

What do you have as the answers for iii) and iv)? I'm not certain about part iv) because the question is quite vague, but I'm fairly sure my working for iii) is correct.

    Quick Projectile Question?

Isn't it safe to assume that the angle specified to the horizontal unless stated otherwise? Only because HSC questions generally say something like "Fired at an angle of x degrees" when referring to the horizontal angle, and has very similar wording to OP's question.

    Mathematics Extension 2 year 10

Depends if you've started 3U yet. Start thinking about 4U when you've done a couple 3U exams.

what to do during free periods.

On average, about 4 hours a night. There would be some nights where I studied 6-7, and others where I only did 1-2 (Every Friday). And my ATAR goal is 95.

what to do during free periods.

Tbh I think too many people fall for the whole "X hours equates to Y ATAR". You should be putting in as much effort as you can to obtain the highest ATAR possible to ensure you get into your course. You don't want to take a shortcut by doing the least amount of study that you think will still...

what to do during free periods.

I did all my homework during my free periods so I could use my time after school purely on study. Although Maccas runs became more frequent as the year progressed.

    Your Motivators

I'm a huge perfectionist. Except when it comes to English.

Share an HSC success story you know of!

Doesn't this tell you that there's something wrong with your study patterns rather than luck? If you feel comfortable with the content, but getting results below your expectations, it sounds like you need more exam practice, so just hammer past papers to improve your technique. Luck plays no...

    How many hours?

I was doing 1-2 hours a night at this point last year. It was hard to do any more because we had only covered a quarter of the content, so there wasn't much to study.

    2013–14 Ashes Series

Don't think Clarke will enforce it now when there's still 2 and a half days left. But how good is it seeing Prior getting another duck? Man it was beautiful.

    14 more days.

I'm starting to get over the whole "Yay finished my HSC lets party don't even care about my marks" stage and now I'm getting a bit keen for my results. The time between finishing my last exam and getting my results back is like 2 weeks too long for me :(

Business Studies and Chemistry and Engineering.

The thing is, you probably had a bad experience with work experience because work experience kids generally do all the shitty stuff, which can become very tedious for anyone, so you may still want to take business to see what it's really like, plus business and eco do compliment each other...

    Tutoring required for band 6?

Definitely not. There are students that don't get tutoring at all who will get 100 for MX1, so an E4 is a very realistic goal. As someone who didn't get tutoring at all, my advice is to just do as many questions as possible, primarily from past papers as well as textbooks. The more exposure you...

Theoretical values of heat of combustion?

This. There was a mark for doing this in this years HSC, so you should definitely learn to do it.
