    Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon To be fair I feel compelled to say that they're not exactly easy questions. I think I would've had considerable difficulty with those questions when I was first beginning with Extension 2. I would be probably correct in saying that most students just beginning with...

    The Mathematics CORNY Pick Up Lines THREAD

    Re: [The Mathematics CORNY Pick Up Lines THREAD] Albiet slightly off topic, I actually ending up becoming best friends with a girl who I met after I solved a maths question for her. I'm actually not kidding...

    Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon I think he said that quite a few students got close but didn't quite manage it (were a few marks short). He marked Q8 too that year.

    Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon I think Peter Brown from UNSW wrote Q8b of the 2003 paper. Apparently no one got full marks for Q8 that year.

    Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon 1/n! = 1/[n(n-1)(n-2)...(3)(2)1] < 1/[2.2.2...2.2.1] (as n, n-1, ... , 3 > 2 for n >= 3) = 1/2^(n-1) New question: Expand and simplify (x-a)(x-b)(x-c)...(x-z).

    What exactly is 'rote learning' in maths?

    Admittedly I "rote learnt" maths in Year 11. For example, for the subsidiary angle method I used to memorise that when cos was first I would use the transformation R cos(x-a) and when sin was first I would sue R sin(x-a). I had no idea why though... I still did fairly okay though.

    Is it worth it doing past papers prior to 2001? (Maths)

    I think Harder 3U and Graphs were added in 1989? The 1981 paper looks quite straightforward though, which is expected because it was the first year that the new 4U course was examined (they added in conics and circular motion and took out matrices mainly).

    the impossible

    I think it's really stupid for your moderated/aligned mark to be that different from your raw mark... It's inevitable that moderation/aligning would be required for an entire state, but I think the differences at the moment are way too much. If the aligned marks and raw marks differ by at least...

    Kissing a girl

    Most girls are more straightforward than you'd think... And as for me, I'm always sweating like it's 35 deg when it's only 15C, and no person (girls included) would like to touch that. But honestly, I don't think it's THAT bad... Why is it even a big deal? To be honest, if it's a good friend...
