    Accounting @ UNSW?

I didn't find Accounting to be too interesting. But it depends on the person. Usually not. But apparently they provided a 'sample exam' for Accounting 1A and it was quite similar to the actual final. I heard it was just numbers changed...

    Holidays anyone?

Not ncessarily. At my school it was due to compulsory sport (which I bludged by "bribing" my sports teacher/coach).

    Mathematics Notes Survey.

By the way, the "exam" package is quite nice once you have a template established. It can also add up the total points to make sure it adds to 100 and some other nice things as well.

Okay my bad. I should've said "the default LaTeX font" (yes it is possible to change it to Times or some variation of Times, but not Times New Roman since it is patented or something...)

I actually used to hate the LaTeX font when I first saw it...

I don't think good notes alone can help one learn maths well. I think a teacher or tutor who explains the implications of the notes in a way that the student can remember the critical facts is a much better way of learning/teaching.

I had a really good teacher and he wrote very good notes on the board. I seriously couldn't have asked for more.

    Differentiate pi^3

Yes, and the whole idea of LaTeX is not WYSIWYG... defeats the purpose IMO. I know old fashion people who just use a text editor for LaTeX and compile it at the command line... I prefer a LaTeX editor though...

    Differentiate pi^3

In statistics it's often used to represent a proportion.

Need Help With Some Basic Physics Questions

I don't think (2) is in the syllabus for the preliminary or HSC course... but the school might ask it in their assessment tasks... So it's worth checking with your teacher.

Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon No actually I THINK it's the other way around... It's been a while since I've done complex analysis though (which is VERY beautiful).

    Mathematics Extension 2 Textbooks

The "Revised" 4 Unit Maths Coroneous book is basically the book for the old Level 1 course with the irrelevant topics removed (such as matrices, eigenvalues, etc). The supplement was published in 1982, which was when the 4 unit course was revised to include circular motion, conic sections and...

Letter to the BOS, by Bill Pender.

Also, I think the Central Limit Theorem SHOULD be in statistics, perhaps with restrictions on its applications. It's a very important and interesting result in statistics. My guess is that, respectfully, Dr Pender doesn't understand it? By the way, I think Pender has retired from SGS, because...

Letter to the BOS, by Bill Pender.

Where are the draft syllabi that he's referring to? And the specimen papers? He seems to not like or know a lot about statistics though. I'm sure he would've done some statistics in university... Was statistics not a part of university mathematics courses in the 70's? That would answer his...

Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon Something interesting to note that the complex exponential function is peroidic with period 2pi i It does make the complex logarithm function a bit complicated though.
