    The Woolworths Thread

Don't think the customer even noticed. I just let him have the trolley and then cried at the service desk. The whole thing is rather embarrassing. And since I'm casual, there's no monetary compo. Rather they just need the claim to justify why a casual who does on average 14 hours a week...

I've been spoken to so many times by our grocery manager about my 'angry calls'. Apparently it makes customers anxious.

I don't have an issue with seeing their doctor. I have a feeling that I have to go to a specific OH&S medical centre anyway. I have a dislocated shoulder after a customer who was a billion times bigger and stronger than me tried to yank the trolley from me that i was pushing. So yeah, my...

I'd rather someone cancel their shift a few days in advance than call in sick/no show. That way even if you can't directly cover the shift, you can do enough extending.

re the cancelling shifts thing. i honestly think that casuals who do the right thing and say upfront that they cant work get fucked over. they can't call in sick, because we know why they're 'sick'. they don't end up getting their shifts covered, because no one wants them. at the end of the...

    The Woolworths Thread

We start cashing up at 8.00 as well, or even earlier for a Thurs night. But the issue is more that there are still 12ish tills OPEN at 9pm. We can't close express (as helpful as that would be) because of the layout of our store. Any other late night trade night its fine, except we only...

Its harder in stores that don't have late closes, ours are 5/6/9pm, so people are still willing to shop that little bit longer. Plus because its still busy you still have 12+ spot checks to do, plus organise your lousy operators, AND supposedly reports. Much more pressure than before.

Why are jobs so hard to find?

haha the fact that so few people that i work with have their p's is actually problematic at times - and i work at woolies! though we wouldn't hire/reject someone on the basis of not having their p's.

    Casual Work Hours

the store he was at was pretty crap. they never did any proper training with him like you said, just put him in front of a burger station for two shifts and away he went. it was just a really shit store, and i'm sure not all kfc stores are like that. he didnt think twice about quitting...
