    Yeah haha. Btw how do you do it in MATH1081? ie. induction?

    UNSW no longer offers Winter courses. It's been that way since 2008 (where they made 14 week semesters into 12).

    COMP1911 or 1917?

    This is not necessarily true. I found it enjoyable (mostly due to good lecturers) but quite a lot of students find COMP1911 really difficult. They do it because they have to. Don't do COMP1917 unless if you have to. I've had friends do it and say that it is really, really hard.

    Proof for a modulus, inequality induction =D

    Hmm... I might be wrong on this, but I don't think you need to test it for n=2... EDIT: But it wouldn't hurt doing so because n=1 is trivial.

    Will it be any syllabus change in ext2maths in 2012?

    I wonder the format in which CSSA and Independent (and other trial companies/schools) will make their preliminary papers... Probably would include 10 marks of MC I think... But that's a good thing, isn't it?

    A simpler way is to factor out z and then solve for z.

    Q3 (c) --> mathematical induction question

    2(k+1)! = ... >= (2k+2)(2k+1)2^k (k!)^2 = 2(k+1)(2k+1) 2^k (k!)^2 = (k+1)(2k+1) 2^(k+1) (k!)^2 >= (k+1)(k+1) 2^(k+1) (k!)^2 (as 2k > k for k>=1) = 2^(k+1) ((k+1)!)^2, as required. etc Btw, this is really a 3U induction question...

    HSC students' maths paper 'cruel and difficult' (SMH)

    In general, for most students, timing has always been an issue with the Ext 1 paper I believe. So it shouldn't really come to a surprise.

    HSC students' maths paper 'cruel and difficult' (SMH)

    Re: Bogans Complain about Maths Ext.1 Test to Newspaper Well, one markers make it easy for the markers. ie. You give 0 or 1 mark... No need to read through the working to find areas to give part marks, since half marks aren't given. If it's wrong then 0. Likewise if it's right... I like their...

    Superannuation or loan repayments in HSC?

    It will never come up in a 4U trial. Only in 3U. Even so, they're not hard. It was actually my favourite topic in 2U. It's a shame I never got tested on it...
