What Math textbook does your school use?

Yes I am. Why does the school matter? The fact is that our main text was Maths in focus and obtained the forementioned results.

    Polynomial - Newton's Method

And I guess because you didn't mention the word "mathematics" in YOUR argument I guess then you don't have a clue about what you're saying  The signs of P(z1) and P"(z1) need to be the same for a good 1st approximation using Newton's Method for finding roots of a polynomial. Suppose...

    Polynomial - Newton's Method

That is wrong. My analysis involves the concavity and the sign of the curve (ie. below or above the x axis). Taking the case that the curve that we're dealing with is concave up, the first approximation can still be near the actual root but the point on the curve could lie under the x axis...

What Math textbook does your school use?

I wouldn't necessarily say that. You see 41% (about 28) of our school's 2U cohort got Band 6 and 28% (about 11) of the Ext 1 cohort got E4. Most of these guys only used Math in focus + past papers.

    Math1231???!!!! *stressing* help!!!!!

There's nothing wrong with that of course. But most people don't go to uni and do maths related degrees intending to become a high school maths teacher... I think most of them do other jobs before becoming a maths teacher (and often as a result do a DipEd on top of their maths degree).

What Math textbook does your school use?

Well for 2U and Ext 1 I think all you need is Coroneos. Maybe Cambridge aswell if you want some supplementary questions. For Ext 2 I think Cambridge and Coroneos is the best combination.

    Maths Formulae

These formulas are the very basic as to what you should already know. Lol @ #9 though. As if someone wouldn't know what a deck of cards are...or those other definitions :P But seriously I don't think you need to memorise what a deck of cards are (if you haven't already) because they tend to...

What Math textbook does your school use?

Our school used to use Fitzpatrick for 2U and 3U... They said that they changed to Maths in Focus because it was user friendly... :S

    Computing 1A

Ahh okay.. Thanks.. Just trying to figure out why the welcome pack says "Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronic Engineering specify this as the standard first year computing course"... Anyone know? Thanks

Why would you want to become a maths teacher? Just kidding

    Polynomial - Newton's Method

Or if at P(z1) and P''(z1) have opposite signs, where x=z1 is the first approximation.

What about the time you downloaded and commented on the 2009 3U Maths paper after I had uploaded it? ;)

    Computing 1A

Hey Tommykins I thought I was on your 'ignore' list ;) BTW, this is the 2nd time that he's shut up after replying to my thread/posts after I mentioned the fact that he brags the fact that I'm on his supposed ignore list...

Hi, If I want to do Electrical Engineering as a major do I need to do this course? If so, does it help with anything that I may do in the future? I'm doing B Commerce/Engineering at UNSW. Also, what is the difference between this course and Computing for Engineers? Thanks
